BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator has partnered with Champion to launch BSNL Champion My Phone SM3512 and SM3513. These phones hava a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen display, powered by a dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). These have a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. These phones also have Dual SIM support and the SM3513 has 3G support. Vodafone and ICICI Bank launch M-Pesa mobile money transfer service in Haryana

Vodafone India  partnered with ICICI Bank to launch M-Pesa, mobile money transfer and payment service back in April 2013. It was introduced in Delhi and NCR in August 2013. Now Vodafone India has launched the service in Haryana region. It offers a simple and secure way to transfer money and make payments with the security of financial transactions provided by ICICI Bank. This service offers unbanked and under serviced sections of the country to gain access to financial services via the mobile phone. Micromax partners with Tata Docomo for bundled voice and data offers

Micromax partnered with Aircel last year for bundled offers on smartphones and 3G Dongles. It partnered with MTS to launch Canvas Blaze MT500 smartphone. Now, the company has partnered with Tata Docomo to launch voice and data offers. This lets Tata Docomo customers enjoy voice and data at cheaper rates on Micromax handsets purchased after 1st October 2013 till 30th June 2014.

Last year at CES 2013, Sony had announced their twin flagships – Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, and hence we expected there was some speculation that Sony will be unveiling something in the smartphone category at CES 2014. We were right, they did announce a smartphone with top of the line specifications, but it isn’t exactly the company’s flagship. It has a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony G lens with a 27mm wide angle f/2.0 aperture custom 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS image sensor, BIONZ image processing engine, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel 1080p front-facing camera. Google announced Motorola’s next budget smartphone device – Motorola Moto G sometime back and it is scheduled to arrive in India during January 2014. My Vodafone app arrives for Windows Phone 8 devices in India

Vodafone India launched My Vodafone self service app for iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms earlier this year. Now the app is available for Windows Phone platform. Just like other platforms, this lets you pay phone bills, recharge prepaid account, track service requests, subscribe to the best offers and more. You need a valid My Vodafone Login ID and password to use the app. A lot of Windows 8 smartphones including the latest Lumia 1520 did not support the app. Hope Vodafone India would upgrade the app to support more WP8 smartphones. Aircel appoints ZTE for 4G network deployment starting from Tamil Nadu and Chennai

Aircel has appointed China’s ZTE Corporation to supply and deploy its 4G network in India. ZTE had already partnered with Aitel to deploy 4G network in Kolkata and Chandigarh. We already reported that Aircel would start 4G LTE trial starting from Chennai by the end of 2013. Now Aircel has announced that LTE deployment will be initiated in Chennai, Rest of Tamil Nadu (RoTN) and few other business critical circles.

Airtel Mobitude 2013 survey shows 124% jump in data users, 3G devices contributed to 87% of data traffic

Bharti Airtel has released the results of Airtel Mobitude 2013, the 5th edition of its Indian annual survey that reveals that mobile TV, Bollywood, Hello Tunes, Re 1 entertainment store and gaming ruled customer preferences. Mobile TV witnessed 400% plus jump in viewership over last year. Airtel Re 1 entertainments store paved way for data usage growth . The number of data users jump 124% from last year and data consumption jumped 220%. About 87% of data traffic was contributed by 3G-enabled devices. Smartphones with 5.5″ plus screen jumped 123% in last two quarters and Google remains in top as most visited site, followed by YouTube and Facebook.

Aircel now offers 3G video calling benefits with select data packs

Aircel now offers video calling benefits across its 3G circles for this festive season. Aircel now offers cheaper tariffs of 1.6 paisa per second on video calls (Aircel to Aircel). The PI 29 and PI 128 data packs now offer on-net (Aircel to Aircel) video calling minutes, apart from standard data benefit . The PI 29 packs offers 10 minutes of video calling and the PI 128 packs offers 100 minutes of video calls within validity. Aircel slashed data rates on 3G packs earlier this year. These packs come with a validity of 7 days and 30 days, respectively. Cost of the pack might vary depending on the circle. Vodafone has also launched an Android app that lets users listen, explore and download audio and video songs. This subscription-based service for Vodafone users comes in daily, weekly and monthly packs. The music service is powered by Hungama with a vast collection of songs in various genres and languages.
