BSNL has partnered with Pantel Technologies Private Limited (PTPL) once again to launch Bharat Phone PF300, a feature phone, Penta Smart phones, PS501 & PS650 and the Penta T-Pad WS707C tablet in India. The Bharat phone PF300 is based on Java and supports mobile banking, tele-medical care delivery and streaming data delivery. The PentaSmart PS650 is the first smartphone with a 6.5-inch screen in India priced under Rs. 10,000, says the company. Both the Penta smartphones are powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and run on Android 4.2. All the Penta Smart devices are pre-loaded with the suite of Anti-Malware offerings from TrustPort. Idea Aurus 4 with 4.5-inch display, Android 4.2 launched for Rs. 8999

Idea Cellular has launched the Aurus 4, successor of the Aurus III that was launched earlier this year. It has a 4.5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).  It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Moto X gets Android 4.4 KitKat via OTA update

Motorola has surprisingly updated the Moto X to Android 4.4 really quick and the OTA update just showed up on our AT&T unit which we have been happily using in India.The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the MotoX is about 326MB in size and bears the version number 140.44.5.en.US. The update was pretty straight forward and came in as a Over the Air update and installation took about 20 mins to complete. Motorola had already started rolling out the update for the Verizon version.

Aircel partners with D-Link to offer free 3G Data with select data cards and routers

Aircel has announced that they have partnered with D-Link, popular for its wireless networking device to offer 3G data benefits to its customers across India. This would let customers enjoy 1 GB of free 3G data per month for a period of 3 months for customers who activates Aircel 3G SIM on D-Link data card and DWM-156 and routers such as DWR-512 and DWR-730. Customers however need to make a recharge of Rs. 100 per month post activation to avail the benefits. Tata Docomo launches Endless Music service for its pre-paid customers

Tata Docomo has launched Endless Music, a yet a new value added service (VAS) for its pre-paid GSM customers in partnership with Hungama Mobile. This would let the customers listen to music for particular amount of period upon subscription and will work even for basic phone users, since this doesn’t require any software. This would only be available through electronic voucher distribution (EVD). It will also enable customers to set their favorite song and as caller tune at additional charges. The Apple iPhone 5S and the 5C launched in India on Friday, November 1st, even Airtel launched these devices as the company promised. It also revealed plans with free local minutes, local and national SMS and 3G data. These plans start at Rs. 300, which might vary based on the circle.  The Apple iPhone 5S costs Rs.. 53,500, Rs. 62,500 and Rs. 71,500 for the 16, 32 and 64GB variants. These plans are almost similar to last year’s iPhone 5 plans.

Reliance details iPhone 5S and 5C plans with zero down-payment, starts at Rs. 2599 per month with a 2 year contract

Reliance Communications (RCom)  has launched the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C in India as they promised. We reported that the operator plans to launch these phones in India with attractive plans with  a 2 year contract. Now the company has detailed those plans. The company has announced two new offers, Rs. 2,599 per month for the iPhone 5c and Rs 2,999 per month for the iPhone 5s with a 24 month contract. This include the handset cost, unlimited local and STD calls, SMS’, national roaming and 3G data. This makes RCOM the first company to launch the iPhone with no down payment plans.

Vodafone slashes 2G data rates by 80% for its Pay As You Go customers across India

Vodafone was the first operator in the country to announce reduction in 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users by 80%, back in June. It rolled out the new rates in select circles such as Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh as a pilot launch and announced that it would be rolled out in other circles across India in a phased manner. Now the company has announced the new rates would roll out for all pre-paid and post-paid customers on 2G on a ‘Pay as you Go’ basis across its circles in India from November 1, 2013. Vodafone India launches new international roaming packs, offers up to 95% discount on data


Vodafone India has launched a new international roaming pack for its pre-paid and post-paid customers in India visiting 53 countries including UK, USA, UAE, Thailand, Singapore and more. It offers over 95% discount on data and approximately 78% on outgoing local and international calls compared to existing rates. These are available in two variants, Rs. 599 and Rs. 1499 that comes  with a validity of 10 and 30 days respectively. Vodafone launched international roaming packs for post-paid users earlier this year, the new packs are cheaper than that. MTS India rolls out 3GPLUS network powered by EV-DO Rev.B Phase II

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that provides telecom services under the MTS brand has announced the commercial roll out of its 3GPLUS telecom network based the Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Rev. B Phase II technology. The company received its third spectrum carrier from Department of Telecom (DoT) earlier this month, and MTS becomes the first telecom operator in India to provide 3GPLUS network coverage across all its 9 circles of operations, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh (West) and West Bengal.
