Aircel has launched Happy Recharge, the company’s latest recharge pack, that offers talk, text and mobile internet benefits in a single recharge. The Happy Recharge packs start at Rs. 45, that comes with 5 days validity and goes up to Rs. 368, that has 30 days validity. LG announced the G Pad 8.3 tablet back in September last year. It introduced the G Pad 8.3  Google Play Edition in December, that we reviewed recently. LG has released the G Pad 8.3 LTE exclusively on Verizon Wireless in the US. Except the LTE support via SIM card slot, other features are similar to the original LG G Pad 8.3. It has a 8-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels)  full HD display, quad-core 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android Jelly Bean OS. Today, Idea Cellular has tied-up with Opera Software to launch Idea Web Pass, that lets users enjoy customized, time-based mobile internet packages within the Opera Mini browser. Vodafone India partners with Opera to bring web pass service

Vodafone India has partnered with Opera Software to bring web pass services for Indian customers. Opera Web Pass was announced back in 2012, and lets operators offer time or site specific, mobile internet offerings to their customers. This will encourage new users to get online using their mobile devices and also help increase data usage among the existing users, believes Vodafone and Opera. Airtel reaches 200 million mobile customers in India

Airtel has announced that it has crossed  200 million mobile subscriber mark in India. It is the largest mobile operator in India and fourth largest mobile operator in the world in terms of subscribers. It has 1.5 million outlets and serves 86.7% of the country’s population. It crossed 60 million mobile customer mark in 2008 and reached 100 mobile subscriber base in India in 2009. It took just 5 years for Airtel to add 100 million customers.

Airtel acquires Loop Mobile to become Mumbai’s largest carrier


After yesterday’s report, Airtel has just confirmed that they would acquire Loop Mobile, to become the largest mobile network in Mumbai, by subscribers. It already has 4 million customers in the circle and would add the existing 3 million subscribers from Loop Mobile along with the 2G cell sites in the circle. It would offer 3G, 4G, airtel money, VAS and domestic/international roaming facilities for the Loop Mobile customers. Airtel reportedly plans to acquire Loop Mobile for Rs. 700 crore

Bharti Airtel is all set to acquire Loop Mobile, according to a recent report from The Economic Times. Airtel would acquire Loop Mobile in a Rs. 700-crore deal, which is expected to be announced later this week, the report adds. Loop Mobile was previously called BPL Mobile when it started its operations in 1995 BPL Mobile and was renamed as Loop Mobile in 2009. Airtel launches 4G on mobile, available for Apple iPhone 5s and 5c users in Bengaluru at 3G rates

Bharti Airtel has launched 4G on mobile starting from Bengaluru. Airtel announced their plans to roll out 4G LTE service on smartphones for customers in the city back in December. It also rolled out carrier settings update on the iPhone 5s and 5c that enables the 2300 MHz LTE (Band 40) on the smartphones. Few weeks back it conducted a soft launch, today it launched the service officially. Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone win spectrum as auction raises Rs. 61,162 crore for Govt

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the spectrum auctions in various circles that ended after 68 rounds. At the end of the 2G auction government got bids worth Rs. 61,162 crore, much higher than their target revenue of Rs. 41,000 crore. It had put 385 MHz of radio waves in the 1800 MHz band in 22 circles and 46 MHz in the 900 MHz band in 3 circles. Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) won 1800 MHz spectrum in 14 circles across India, out of 22 circles. BSNL launches free incoming national roaming packs starting from Rajasthan

After MTNL, the State Owned Telecom Operator, BSNL has started rolling out free roaming plans starting from Rajasthan. Unlike MTNL, this service is not free on BSNL. Prepaid customers have to purchase special tariff vouchers (STVs) to avail free incoming calls while roaming across the country. As expected, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched free incoming calls for their customers in Delhi and Mumbai. This would let them attend calls from any network for free of cost, without any packs while roaming between Mumbai and Delhi. BSNL and MTNL reportedly launching free roaming plans starting January 26th

BSNL, State Owned Telecom Operator and MTNL would launch new free roaming plans starting from January 26th, according to a recent report from TOI. Videocon Mobile Services was the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. It also launched new packs later that offer free incoming calls while roaming on other networks. Other operators joined in with cheaper roaming plans starting with free incoming calls while roaming.
