Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 Zoom (SM-C1010) along with the Galaxy S4 mini (GT-I9192) in India earlier this month. The S4 mini went on pre-order from the official Samsung India eStore last week. Now the Galaxy S4 Zoom is now available for pre-order. It has a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor with 10x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) and Xenon Flash, 4.3 inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Karbonn A29, a new Android smartphone is now available from online retailer Saholic. It has a 4.7-inch (960 × 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It packs a 2000 mAh battery, but no details about the RAM yet. It has 3G data connectivity and Dual SIM support with dual standby. Wish it had a quad-core processor since most of the competitors offer a quad-core processor in this price range. Sony offers Rs. 5000 discount on Xperia Z or ZL in exchange for old smartphones

Sony Mobile India has started their big Xperia Xchange offer assured Rs. 5000 discount on the Xperia Z or ZL in  exchange your old smartphones. Samsung launched a similar Smart upgrade offer for the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S4. Sony launched the Xperia Z and the ZL in India earlier this year. Both these phones have a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Xperia Z comes with  IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance and the Xperia ZL lacks the feature. Micromax lost the Superfone tag soon after the second canvas device. The A116 Canvas HD, the company’s first smartphone with a HD display made a debut earlier this year. Micromax launched fourth device in the Canvas series is aptly named the Canvas 4 with a model number A210. One thing that is common in all the Canvas devices is the 5-inch display. Reliance cuts 3G data rates, offers 1GB of 3G data at Rs. 123

Reliance Communications (RCom) has reduced the 3G rates by half for both the pre-paid and post-paid customers. Now 1GB of 3G data costs Rs. 123. The 2GB and 4GB 3G packs now cost Rs 246 and Rs 492 respectively. All these come with 30 days validity. The new rates are applicable in all the 13 circles across India. Recently Vodafone, Airtel, Idea and Videocon reduced 2G data rates. ZTE Grand X Quad Lite with 5 inch qHD display launched in India for Rs. 14,999

Apart from five low to mid range smartphones that ZTE launched today, in India, the Chinese manufacturer has also revealed its flagship device. The flagship device, although falling in the similar mid range price bracket, has matching specs with the current crop of 5 inch devices that are doing the rounds in the market. Equipped with a 5 inch qHD screen and a quad core processor, ZTE hopes to peg this as the phone to get from its portfolio for the Indian consumers. That said, ZTE seems to really acknowledge the fact that in India, the volume is in mid range. Let us take a look at the specifications of the device then.

ZTE launches a range of low to mid end smartphones in India

ZTE has announced its arrival to the Indian market at an event in Mumbai today with an onslaught of a total of six devices and four 3G data cards. With these new devices, the Chinese mobile giant aims to capture some marketshare and mind share in the world’s second fastest growing smartphone market. While data has proven that the smartphone market is just a miniscule part of the whole mobile phone market in India, it is indeed growing faster than any other. This lucrative opportunity has provided us, the consumers with a lot of choices and that includes various Chinese companies like Gionee, Huawei, Lenovo and now ZTE. The company has launched four mid range devices in the Blade range as a part of their complete portfolio roll out.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 3 310 (SM-T310) and the Galaxy Tab 3 311 (SM-T311), 2 new tablets in India at an event in Delhi. It was announced last month as Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and packs a 8-inch (1280×800) IPS LCD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor  and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Unlike the Galaxy Note 510, this doesn’t come with stylus support. The Tab 3 310 is the WiFi-only variant and the Tab 3 311 comes with 3G support via SIM card slot and voice calling capabilities. It has a 3-megapixel fixed focus rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also comes with 3G support via SIM card slot and voice calling capabilities similar to the Galaxy Tab 2. HP has launched the Slate 21, the company’s first All-in-One (AiO) PC running runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) along with the Slatebook x2 in India. It was announced last month and has a 21.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD capacitive reclining IPS touchscreen display with wide viewing angles and is powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor. You can tilt the screen between 15 and 70 degrees with your hand and can also mount the AiO using a standard VESA mount. LG Optimus L5 gets the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update in India

The LG Optimus L7 got the Android 4.1 update in India back in May, now LG has started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Optimus L5 (E612) users in India.  The Optimus L5 was announced back in February 2012 and released in India last June. The software version is JZO54K similar to the other countries and the software version is V20c. All the L Series II devices that were launched recently run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Lenovo IdeaPad A1000 with 7-inch display, voice calling now available in India for Rs. 8980


Lenovo unveiled the IdeaPad A1000 at the MWC 2013 earlier this year. Now the tablet is available from the official Lenovo online store in India. It has a  7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MTK8317 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a SIM card slot with 2G data support and voice calling capabilities. It has large, dual front-facing speakers that would offers enhanced audio experience for music or movies along with Dolby Digital Plus support. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 8.0 likely to launch tomorrow in India

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 8.0 inch devices were launched separately, with one device announced in April and the other on the 3rd of June, with not that much of a fanfare. In less than two months, it has been teased as “coming to India” on Samsung’s Facebook page and is also being displayed as “coming soon” in the Samsung India eStore for the both the models. The Galaxy Tab 3 devices are an evolution of the Galaxy Tab 2 tablet and are all equipped with voice calling capabilities, much like the original Galaxy Tab. Boasting 7 and 8 inch screens respectively, they are much of the earlier Samsung device like the Tab 2 310 and the Note 8.0. It is also likely that Samsung will be launching both the devices tomorrow, as we have just received an invite for a press conference tomorrow.
