Instagram has announced the global rollout of a new feature allowing users to feature posts they are tagged in directly on their primary profile grid.
Historically, user profiles have separated self-published media from third-party posts, relegating tagged photos and videos to an adjacent, dedicated tab. With this update, users can integrate creator collaborations, group pictures, and shared media into their primary feed layout, granting individuals broader curation over how their profiles present.
How to Add Tagged Posts to the Main Grid
Users can move a tagged post to their main profile grid using three distinct methods:
- Direct Message Notifications: Selecting the option directly from the tag alert sent via direct message.
- Post Options Menu: Tapping the three-dot overflow menu (
...) on any eligible post where the user is tagged. - The Tagged Tab: Pressing and holding the desired post within the profile’s existing Tagged tab.
Grid Placement and Management
Once selected, the tagged content integrates into the main grid in standard reverse-chronological order based on the date the original post was published, unless the user manually customizes their grid arrangement.
The feature also allows for reversible management: users can remove a tagged post from their main grid at any point. Doing so does not delete the creator’s original post, nor does it remove the media from the user’s secondary Tagged tab.
