Xiaomi sells record 800,000 Redmi Note 2 units in 12 hours in China

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 that was announced last week went on sale in China yesterday. Xiaomi has announced that it sold 800,000 Redmi Note 2 smartphones in the first 12 hours of sale, which is a new record for the company. Back in April Xiaomi entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for selling 2.11 million smartphones online in 24 hours during its Mi Fan Fest in China. Xiaomi launched the Redmi 2 Prime smartphone in India last week for Rs. 6,999. We already brought you the unboxing of the smartphone, here we have the benchmarks. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) SoC that has four ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.21GHz per core, similar to the Redmi 2, but this has 2GB of RAM. It’s in the size of your palm, can be carried in your pocket and weighs just 100 grams. The main highlight of the wireless router is that it has micro USB input that lets you power it using a power bank since it consumes just 36W power. Xiaomi just announced the Redmi Note 2 smartphone at its MIUI 7 event, as expected. It packs a  5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, is powered by a octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor and runs on MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), resulting in a quick focus of just 0.1 second. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a Magnesium alloy frame and is 8.25mm thick.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime Made in India

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi 2 Prime, the company’s latest budget smartphone that is Made in India. This smartphone is manufactured at Xiaomi and Foxconn facility in Andhra Pradesh. This is the enhanced version of the Redmi 2 that was launched in the country earlier this year. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Other specifications are similar, including a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 and 4G LTE with support for TD-LTE 2300MHz (Band 40) and FDD-LTE 1800MHz (Band 3) for India.

Xiaomi has just launched its first ‘Make in India’ smartphone dubbed the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime. The smartphone was briefly listed by Amazon and Flipkart last week revealing all the specifications. Though the Redmi 2 Prime is only a 2GB RAM variant of the original Redmi 2, the highlight of the smartphone is that it has been manufactured in India at Xiaomi and Foxconn facility in Andhra Pradesh.
