Xiaomi EV has launched the Xiaomi SkyNomad Series, the first vehicle built on the company’s Xiaomi Kunlun Platform. The new extended-range SUV is available in two variants, offering different seating configurations for family-focused use cases.
The Xiaomi SkyNomad Series combines a flexible cabin layout, extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) technology, safety systems and Xiaomi’s smart vehicle ecosystem. It comes with Xiaomi Kunlun HyperRange, Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery and Xiaomi Kunlun Total Safety technologies.
The lineup includes the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max, a seven-seat extended-range SUV, and the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max, a five-seat AWD extended-range SUV.
Design and interior
The Xiaomi SkyNomad follows a boxier SUV design focused on improving cabin space. The vehicle features an upright profile with a flat roofline, continuous waistline and higher sill line to create more room inside.
The dimensions of the two variants are:
- Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max: 5,285 mm length, 1,998 mm width, 1,825 mm height, 3,080 mm wheelbase
- Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max: 4,960 mm length, 1,998 mm width, 1,765 mm height, 2,950 mm wheelbase
The exterior design includes rounded rectangular elements across the headlights, taillights, door handles and side cameras. The SUV features an active grille and aerodynamic improvements, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.255 on the N90 Max.
The vehicle comes with smart electric doors, rear doors that open up to nearly 90 degrees and a 360-degree anti-collision system that detects obstacles around the doors. An optional electric side step is also available to assist passengers while entering and exiting.
Inside, Xiaomi SkyNomad features a cabinet-style centre console with integrated charging, storage and accessory options. The cabin uses soft-touch materials across high-contact areas, while the N90 series features a multi-layer seat structure with front-seat massage, ventilation and heating functions.
The SUV is offered with exterior colour options including Mountain Green, Valley Blue and Volcanic Gray, along with Cream Beige and Mocha Brown interior themes.
Kunlun Platform
The Xiaomi SkyNomad is built on the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, which focuses on reducing structural components inside the cabin to increase usable space.
The platform uses an integrated front cabin layout, redesigned suspension packaging and a compact rear electric drive system to create a flat floor design.
Key platform features include:
- Completely flat cabin floor from the first row to the cargo area
- Flat floor area exceeding 4.4 square metres
- Floor length of nearly 3 metres
- Seat rails extending up to 1,938 mm on the N90 Max
- Up to 900 mm seat adjustment range for second and third rows
The flat-floor layout allows Xiaomi SkyNomad to offer multiple seating configurations. The N90 Max provides up to 2,760 mm of occupant space, while second-row legroom can reach up to 1,550 mm.
Cabin and storage
The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max offers seven seats, while the N70 Max comes with a five-seat layout and all-wheel drive.
The N90 Max provides up to 1,831 litres of cargo space. In Ultimate Storage Mode, the SUV can accommodate up to 24 20-inch suitcases.
Additional storage and convenience features include:
- 34 storage compartments across the cabin
- 50W wireless charging integrated into the sliding centre console
- 9-litre refrigerator
- USB-C ports and accessory expansion options
- Up to 12 accessory mounting points
The vehicle supports different seating modes, including configurations for family travel, cargo loading, work and rest. Selected variants also support rotating front seats and zero-gravity second-row seats.
Safety features
Xiaomi has equipped the SkyNomad Series with the Xiaomi Kunlun Total Safety system, covering body structure, airbags, battery protection and driver assistance features.
The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max uses a steel-aluminium hybrid body structure, with high-strength materials accounting for 90.4% of the body. The SUV uses 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel in key areas, including structural reinforcement components.
Safety highlights include:
- 12 airbags covering all three rows
- Nine collision sensors for improved crash detection
- Reinforced body structure with integrated safety components
- Third-row side airbags and extended side curtain airbags
- Emergency door release systems
- Dual emergency tailgate handles
- Water-wading capability up to 750 mm
- 39 anti-pinch protection points
The Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery includes 18 layers of structural protection and multiple thermal safety systems. Xiaomi says the battery system includes protection measures against leakage, fire and thermal propagation.
Smart features and assisted driving
The Xiaomi SkyNomad cabin uses a four-in-one domain control system powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform.
The smart cockpit features:
- Dual 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 7 support
- Six-screen cabin system
- Customisable head-up display with 15,000-nit brightness
- 25-speaker audio system
- Rear control display for cabin functions
The vehicle also includes Xiaomi Hyper XiaoAi, an AI assistant that can control functions such as seating, lighting and climate settings through voice commands.
For assisted driving, Xiaomi SkyNomad comes with a 700 TOPS computing platform, LiDAR, 4D millimetre-wave radar and cameras. The N90 series adds rear LiDAR for improved obstacle detection.
The SUV supports Xiaomi’s HAD assisted-driving system with XLA architecture, which enables voice-controlled driving functions and navigation assistance in underground parking environments.
Range and performance
The Xiaomi SkyNomad Series uses Xiaomi Kunlun HyperRange technology, combining an electric drivetrain with a range-extender system.
Key powertrain details include:
- Battery capacity options ranging from 52 kWh to 76 kWh
- Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max EV-only range of up to 505 km (CLTC)
- Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max EV-only range of up to 464 km (CLTC)
- Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max combined range of up to 1,705 km (CLTC)
- Energy consumption of 15.85 kWh per 100 km
- Dual-motor AWD system producing 310 kW peak power
The N90 Max uses a double-wishbone front suspension and H-arm multi-link rear suspension with adjustable air suspension and continuously variable damping.
The SUV has a 100–0 km/h braking distance of 38.57 metres and a turning radius of 5.95 metres.
Pricing and availability
Xiaomi SkyNomad Series pre-sales started in China on July 30 at 21:00. Customers can reserve the vehicle with a RMB 1,000 deposit.
