Reliance partners with Lenovo to launch co-branded Android Smartphones

Reliance Communications (RCOM) has announced a partnership with Lenovo, popular Chinese hardware manufacturer to launch range of Android smartphones in India. The smart phones would be available across different screen sizes, come with a 1 GHz dual-core processor, and work on CDMA and GSM network simultaneously using Reliance’s Dual Core network to switch calls between the two networks automatically based on the strength and quality of RF signals. Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone gets money back offer on Reliance 3G

Sony Ericsson and Reliance has teamed up to offer money back plans with the purchase of Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman phone. The phone was available available in India this June. This is an Android phone that has 3 inch (320×480 Pixels) capacitive touch screen, 3.2MP, Bluetooth, FM Radio with RDS and expandable memory up to 16GB with microSD. Reliance GSM now in Madurai

Reliance Communications launched its GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) service here yesterday as part of the recent nationwide service initiative.

A company press release said that customers choosing reliance Mobile GSM service can avail a unique plan, which offers up to 100 per cent savings to those having ARPU(Average revenue per user) less than Rs 100 in the state at a one-time subscription charge (including GSM SIM) of Rs 35 only.

Reliance Mobile launches GSM services in Punjab

Reliance Communications Monday announced the launch of its GSM mobile services in Punjab, becoming the first telecom operator in the circle to have both GSM and CDMA services for mobile users.

“The service will cover 460 towns, 11,741 villages and a number of national, state and other highways, tourist and religious places throughout the state,” Reliance regional hub head Arvind Kumar told reporters at the launch.

The Punjab circle GSM market is dominated by telecom majors Airtel and Idea (till recently Spice) and the entry of Reliance is likely to make the competition even more keen.

Offering a Reliance GSM prepaid SIM card for a one-time charge of just Rs.25, Reliance officials said the inaugural offer to subscribers would provide 100 percent savings to the sub-Rs.300 users. Continue reading “Reliance Mobile launches GSM services in Punjab”

Reliance Communications launches Educational Portal on Reliance phones

Reliance Communications launched an exclusive educational portal on Reliance mobile phones, offering services such as exam results, college admissions, event calendar of exams, admission deadlines, mock tests etc. The portal will also have the list of top universities, colleges, secondary education boards as well as career options.

To use, subscribers have to call 53030101 (Exam Guru) and they will be guided by an IVR instructing them to press 1 for exams and admission, 2 for information on top colleges and universities in the country, 3 for career options, 4 for Board Exams and 5 for SMS based subscription.

Reliance Mobile Blog

Reliance seems to be singing the Blogging song with their latest Reliance Mobile Blog Ad on TV screens across India.

Reliance Mobile Blog is the latest addition to the features of their mobile offerings. The classical song which plays is ” You got the whole world in your hands “. With mobile penetration sky rocketing in India this new feature seems to be mainly targetted at Youth.The AD shows a pretty young girl who encourages users to share your dairy on reliance mobile world. The advert seems impressive and well taken. It seems like the AD is taken in Singapore. I checked out the Official Site  and found that users are uploading mainly images and videos. So this might well be termed as Multimedia Mobile Blogging . But my worry is that since such a service is data intensive, how much time will it take for me to upload an image/video etc. I badly want to get my hands on a reliance phone and try out this service.

Hyderabad based IMImobile seems to be the powering this service for largest CDMA operator in the country.

Mobile Blogging now possible with Reliance

Reliance has launched mobile blogging for its customers. RCL has partnered with the Hyderabad-based mobile content solutions company IMI Mobile for moblogging. The service is priced at Rs 5 per MMS/SMS for posting a blog. The blogs are hosted on www.relianceinfo.com/mblog. In any case, it will take a while for moblogging to become a mass application.
