POCO recently sent out media invites for a global launch event on May 12th in Spain, after the launch of POCO F1. Now it has confirmed that the event will start at 2PM CEST (5:30PM IST) on Tuesday. Google Play’s list of supported devices already revealed that the Redmi K30 Pro and upcoming POCO F2 Pro share the same “lmi” code name, so the POCO F2 Pro should be a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro for the global markets. POCO Global has been teasing the launch of new smartphone soon, and it is rumoured to be the POCO F2 Pro, a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro for the global markets. Today POCO M2 Pro, a new smartphone in the POCO’s M series briefly showed up on the Xiaomi India website with the model number M2003J6CI. Later POCO GM, C Manmohan confirmed that POCO F2 is a different smartphone from Redmi K30 Pro in India. Now Google Play’s list of supported devices reveals that the Redmi K30 Pro and upcoming POCO F2 Pro share the same “lmi” code name. It also reveals that Redmi K30 Pro 5G Zoom Edition will be launched under K30 Pro name in the global markets and it also has codename “Imiinpro” hinting that Redmi K30 Pro series is expected to launch in India. Earlier last month, the GST Council in its 39th meeting increased GST rates for several products including mobile phones from 12% to 18% applicable from April 1st, 2020. As announced, mobile brands have increased the prices of their smartphones and earlier today, Apple increased prices of the iPhone lineup. Following that, POCO has also announced that a Rs. 1000 price hike across all variants of the POCO X2 smartphone.
