Nokia re-enters USA with Lumia 710 for T-Mobile

Nokia is making a re-entry into the American market with the Lumia 710 for T-Mobile. Nokia and T-Mobile announced plans to launch it’s first Windows Phone in USA on Jan 11 2012.The Lumia 710 started shipping in several countries last week and now there good news for Nokia fans in USA. The T-Mobile version supports the operator’s 4G network and bear the operator branding below the windows keys.The best part of announcement is the pricing.

Samsung Omnia W vs Nokia Lumia 710

Here is the comparison between 2 latest Windows Phone Mango devices, Samsung Omnia W and the Nokia Lumia 710. The Samsung Omnia W is the Samsung’s latest Windows Phone device that was announced in September and they launched it in India in October. It packs in 1.4 GHz Processor and comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA(800X480 pixels ) Super AMOLED display. Nokia Lumia 710 is Nokia’s latest Windows Phone device that was announced in India in November. It comes with 3.7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) ClearBlack TFT display with Gorilla Glass and boasts 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Scorpion CPU and it also comes with swapable back covers. What’s on my Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone ?

I have been using Windows Phone for roughly 6 months now and yes, I really like it. WP, although not perfect, has some features that really got me. There is room for improvement, and I’m perfectly happy in going that route, watching it grow and evolute. After the rather mediocre HTC Trophy I’m now using the Nokia Lumia 800, which simply is the best Windows Phone out there, period.

One of the discussion points I have always faced, has been “but there are no apps on Windows Phone”. Well, i call it nonsense here. The Windows Phone Marketplace is constantly growing, and is getting filled with not only apps from the known brands, but also quality 3rd party applications, with some really cool ideas. Since people are still learning and are getting into Windows Phone since Nokia has joined the party, I thought it’d be a nice idea to put all my currently installed apps together, and wrap them up into a nice post. 5 N9 “Novelties” Nokia Should Keep, And 2 It Should Kill

Over the past year, a lot has been said in regards to the Nokia N9 and Meego’s future, be it in Nokia’s portfolio or with other manufacturers. We all don’t really know what the future holds, but after a couple of weeks with the N9, a lot of joy and a lot of sorrow using it, there are some Nokia N9 ideas that I think are worth having in other devices _ Meego, Windows Phone, S40, Symbian, or whatever the future Nokia devices will run _ and some others that I believe should be locked away in a drawer for all eternity. I’ll take the liberty of loosely calling these ideas “novelties” even though some of them aren’t exactly new to Nokia or the mobile industry as whole, but these have mostly been made more prominent with the N9.

Nokia Lumia 800 Gorilla Glass Test: Oh no, he did it again!

Remember when my good friend Stefanos Kofopoulos tortured the screen of the Nokia N8 in his famous video about a year ago? Well, Stefanos is at it again and sent over this video, where he puts the Gorilla Glass of Nokia’s first Windows Phone, the Lumia 800 through it’s paces. This video, posted over at his pestaola.gr blog is not for the faint hearted though, Stefanos does not hold back, scratching all over the display with keys, coins and even a Swiss Army knife! I don’t know about you, but those scratching sounds just made me cringe. Horrible stuff. What happens to the display you ask? Nokia has started rolling out new software update v1600.2479.7740.11451 for the Nokia Lumia 800 that brings performance and usability enhancements for the battery, voicemail notification and more. Nokia announced the Lumia 800 at the Nokia World this October, and this is the first update since its launch. Nokia Lumia 800 Pre-Orders start in India

Nokia Stores across India have started to take Pre-orders for the first Windows Phone device from Nokia , the Lumia 800. Most Nokia Priority Stores across the country have the device on display as well. In case you wanted to check out the 1st Windows phone from Nokia , you can walk in and get your hands on the device. In order to reserve your unit ,  you must pay a small advance in the range of Rs.1000-2000 and the device will be made available in the next 10 days according the the store. The final retail price of the Lumia 800 is not yet fixed due to the fluctuating dollar we assume, but the person in a store hinted at a final retail price of  Rs.30000-33000. Nokia X2-02 Dual SIM Phone – Photo Gallery

Finally Nokia is taking the Dual SIM market seriously in India as the company launched yet another Dual SIM phone , the X2-02 last week at it’s Annual Strategy Sharing Summit in Udaipur. The X2-02 reminds us of the X1-01 but the big difference is the presence of a hot-swappable SIM card slot on the  outside. There is a Easy Swap feature which lets to store settings of up to 5 SIM cards. The phone also has a hot-swappable microSD card slot with support for 32GB cards.One of the killer features is the built-in FM Transmitter which Nokia calls as Play via Radio.You can have your own radio station in your car.
