Asus has officially announced on their Facebook Page that the Asus Transformer Prime would receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update Over the Air (OTA) start January 12th 2012 worldwide. They are also developing an unlock tool for the modding community who would like to have the bootloader unlocked. The warranty of the device will be void once the bootloader is unlocked and Google video rental and other DRM service would also be unavailable. Asus Transformer Prime is now available for pre-order from UK’s online retail store, Clove UK. There are two variants, one with 32GB internal storage and a keyboard included, and one with 64GB memory and no keyboard included. Asus has announced their Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android tablet with Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 10.1-inch LED backlit display that offers 178-degree viewing angle and has a maximum brightness of 600 nits. The tablet is powered by Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and runs on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) with an update to Ice Cream Sandwich expected soon.
