Android 10 based MIUI 10 — New Features and First look on Redmi K20 Pro

Last month, Google revealed that next release of Android will be called Android 10 instead of Android Q and it won’t be named based on any dessert, and unveiled new brand logo and color for the Android. This morning, Android 10 update started rolling out to Pixel series of devices and Essential phone. Xiaomi also started rolling out Android 10 based MIUI 10 update for the Redmi K20 Pro in India and China but it was rolled out only to Beta testers that company recently recruited.

Redmi K20 Pro Android 10 MIUI update rolling out to testers in India and China

Google released Android 10 for its Pixel phones and the Essential Phone also got the update. Xiaomi started recruitment for Android 10 based MIUI 10 testing last week in India, now the company has started rolling out the update to testers in India and China. Even though some say that it’s available for all the users, Mi Community Manager has confirmed that it’s available only for the testers.

Android 10 update released for Pixel smartphones, Essential Phone

After several beta updates, Google has finally started rolling out Android 10 stable update for Pixel smartphones. Essential has also started rolling out the update for the Essential Phone. Those who have signed up for beta program have started getting OTA updates. Google is also pushing sources to Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

Redmi K20 Pro Android 10 based MIUI 10 testing to start soon as recruitment begins

Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 Pro smartphone in India last month running MIUI 10.3 Global Stable on top of Android 9.0 (Pie), the smartphone recently made its debut as Mi 9T Pro in global markets. The Redmi K20 Pro Chinese variant was amongst the devices eligible for Android Q Beta update.

Flipkart starts rolling out free video service for Android

Flipkart has started rolling out its video streaming service for Android users for free that allows users to watch movies, TV shows and other video content for free. Viu, Dice Media, TVF, Arre and Voot have partnered with Flipkart for the video content. The videos classified into different sections based on genres and languages.

HMD Global is extending security updates to Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 8 by one more year

HMD Global had already promised 2 years of Android updates and two years of regular security updates for its smartphones, and it has delivered updates as it had promised. Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI global stable update starts rolling out

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 smartphones in India last yera running MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) update, and the stable MIUI 10 OTA update for the phones rolled out soon after the launch. In February, the company started recruiting beta testers for testing Android Pie based MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for various devices but didn’t announce update plans for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, later, the company announced that both the smartphones will receive Android Pie based MIUI Global Stable ROM. Google releases final Android Q Beta 6 update with gesture navigation tweaks, stable update soon

Google released Android developer preview for Android ‘Q’ back in March, released Beta 2 in April, Android Q beta 3 in June during I/O, Beta 4 in June with final Android Q developer APIs (API level 29), the official API 29 SDK, and updated build tools for Android Studio and Beta 5 last month with improved gesture navigation and dark boot screen. Today it has released beta 6 for Pixel devices that brings further refinements to Gesture Navigation based on user feedback. HONOR PLAY and HONOR 8X EMUI 9.1 update starts rolling out in India

HUAWEI’s HONOR brand today announced that it has started rolling out EMIUI 9.1 update in India, after rolling it out HUAWEI P20 Lite  last month. This brings new features including better UI Design, Gesture Based Navigation, GPU Turbo 3.0, all-new EROFS (Extendable Read-Only File System) and Advanced Battery management among other features. POCO F1 Android Q based MIUI testing might start soon

Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO launched the POCO F1 smartphone in India back in August 2018 running MIUI 9.6 Global Stable on top of Android 8.1 (Oreo). Later in December 2018, the company rolled out Android 9.0 (Pie) based MIUI 10 update for the smartphone. Earlier this month, Xiaomi announced a list of smartphones eligible for Android Q update, POCOPHONE Global Head, Alvin has already confirmed Android Q update for the smartphone.
