Lava XOLO X900 price drops to Rs.17500

LTE capable Medfield chips coming soon says Intel

Intel’s smartphone powering Medfield chips have been curiously missing from the US market having seen a launch in India, China, Russia and the UK. It turns out that this might be due to their lack of support for LTE. Sumeet Syal, Marketing Chief at Intel, said in an interview that current x86 SoC’s will not support the high speed network but a modem solution will be available by the end of the year.

Android Jelly Bean port ready for Intel smartphones, No word on roll out

Waiting for Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) to hit your Lava X900 ? You’re in luck as Intel has just finished off porting the latest version of Android to its Medfield chips. The Android 4.1 build is complete and is being used as a daily driver by Intel employees said Mike Bell, Mobile group General Manager, in an interview with PC World.

Motorola XT890 to run on 2Ghz Intel chip ?

Motorola is planning to hold an event next week in partnership with Intel. Phones running on Intel’s Medfield chip are widely expected to be launched. If this FCC filing is to be believed then we’re going to be in for a treat with some very potent hardware lined up. The Motorola XT890 is rumored to be powered by a 2Ghz Intel chip. It is believed that the screen resolution is 897×540 which would be a bit disappointing.

LAVA XOLO X900 First Unboxing


Here is the world’s first unboxing of the world’s first Intel powered phone the Lava XOLO X900 first only on FoneArena. This Android smartphone went on sale on April 23rd in India for Rs.21990 available only online. Intel and Lava showcased this device at MWC 2012 in February this year and it’s hit the market this month. Actually India is the first country in which the XOLO X900 is being launched. The phone is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel ATOM processor and packs 1GB of RAM. It has a 8MP Camera along with a dedicated camera key. It packs a 4inch screen with a 1024×600 pixels resolution. First Intel powered phone , Lava XOLO X900 launched at Rs 22,000

Lava Mobiles today launched the world’s first Intel powered handset. Called the XOLO X900 , the specifications include a 1.6Ghz Atom Z2460  processor capable of Hyper Threading. The graphics chip is clocked at 400Mhz enabling playback of Full HD content and HD quality games.

Intel partnering with Lava to launch Medfield based phones in India

Intel plans to launch Medfield based phones in India in close collaboration with Lava mobiles. Under the new partnership , the first new phones will be launched on the Medfield Z2460 platform. The Z2460 is capable of speeds upto 2Ghz and comes with a Intel XMM 6260 HSPA+ radio.

Orange unveils first Android powered Intel Medfield handset

Orange just announced its first Medfield powered handset dubbed the Santa Clara. The Intel chipset powered phone will run on the Android platform. A 1024×600 resolution 4″ panel can be found on the handset alongside an 8MP snapper capable of capturing 1080p video.

Intel and Motorola Mobility enter into Multi-Year Partnership

Intel showed off its smartphone reference design at CES 2012 and said that it will announce a smartphone partner soon and now the news has arrived. Intel has entered into a multi-year partnership with handset maker Motorola Mobility which will use Intel’s Atom’s chips in it’s Android smartphones.The phones will be shipping later this year.Motorola will continue to use Qualcomm and TI chips in its phones.The partnership includes tablets as well so we might see Motorola tablets powered by Intel silicon in the future. Intel AppUp and the problem of content curation

Intel held its annual AppUp Elements conference in Seattle last week. Amongst the announcements including that of Tizen , one of the more relevant topics touched upon was content curation. The session led by Peter Biddle , GM AppUp Products , was a fresh look at the app curation model and how AppUp could innovate. The problem of app discovery is not one to be overlooked. To take an example , sorting through and finding the app you need from over 425,000 available on the iTunes store is a herculean task.

Intel to discontinue MeeGo development ? Not so fast !

Rumors are rife that Intel plans to discontinue MeeGo development following the rather tepid market response to hardware based on fledgling OS. Digitimes reports that Intel is planning to “temporarily discontinue development of its MeeGo OS” . If Intel backs down from the OS it would mean the end of the linux based operating system from a commercial point of view and would be relegated to being a hobbyist OS at best.
