Microsoft and HTC have been closely related ever since the days of the first Windows Mobile devices so it was no surprise when HTC was amongst the first ones to launch Windows Phone 8 devices.
We reviewed the HTC 8X at launch and found it quite deserving to be amongst the first WP8 phones. The HTC 8S caters to a different and perhaps more budget minded audience. Does it deliver an experience as good as its higher priced contemporary ? Read on to find out.

The HTC Butterfly is the international variant of the J Butterfly (Japan) and the DROID DNA (USA) variants. We have got our hands on one and this gallery is first among the articles we plan to cover on this phone.
HTC is long expected to reveal its next generation flagship at MWC in February and now thanks to UnwiredView, we have our first glimpse of the handset. Obtained from a firmware image, we can see that the handset maybe equipped with an edge to edge display. The long awaited entry level Windows Phone 8 handset, the HTC 8S, is now available in India at a price point of Rs. 19,359. Online retailer Saholic has now listed the handset as available. The HTC 8S follows the 8X which has been quite a popular handset partly due to the lack of competition in the WP8 segment.

Microsoft is pushing out an OTA update for the HTC Windows Phone 8X which will add some much needed features to the flagship device. Windows Phone users have always complained about the WiFi switching off as soon as you turn off the screen, this has been fixed or rather made optional after the update. Users can now now opt to keep the WiFi switched on even when the screen is off.
Called the “Portico” update, It also adds new SMS centric features. Users now have the ability to reject calls with an SMS, it is not possible to select all SMS messages to mass delete. A last feature is the ability to create SMS drafts so that you can compose a message and send it later. The international variant of the Droid DNA and HTC Butterfly J have been announced today for the global audience. The phone which will be called the HTC Butterfly is one of the first devices with a ful HD display. The 5″ screen with 1080p resolution results in a mind blowing pixel density of 440ppi.

Third quarter of the year is usually really bad for mobile phone manufacturers as there are no huge celebrations where people buy devices and it is also the time where new devices are unveiled which will be launched during Christmas. So people tend to wait for Christmas time where all the mobile manufacturers try to bring in their best devices. Gartner’s research shows that mobile phone sales has gone down 3% compared to last year but in the same research smaprtphone sales has gone up 47%.

To put an end to their long pending patent dispute, HTC and Apple have entered into a global settlement which includes a 10 year cross licensing agreement. The news was revealed in a join statement released by HTC and Apple. The deal covers all current and future patents by the companies.

HTC is launching its new range of Windows Phone 8 devices in India including the HTC Windows Phone 8X and 8S. The 8X which is called a signature Windows Phone device by HTC is powered by a dual core 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor and has 1GB of RAM. The screen is a 4.3″ 720p panel covered by Gorilla Glass 2 for better protection.
