Nokia holding Windows Phone event on Nov 14th in India


Nokia India just sent us an invite for a launch event on Nov 14th. The invite talks about Amazing New Experiences. We are betting this is the India launch of the Windows Phone devices.  Nokia announced the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices at Nokia World 2011 last month where the company promised to bring these devices to India before the end of the year. The Lumia 710 would be coming first followed by the Lumia 800 from what we have learnt. Interestingly both these devices use a microSIM card  like the iPhone 4 , 4s and Nokia N9. Would be interesting to see how operators address this issue. Pricing wise the Lumia 710 is expected to be cheaper than the 800 and the stated pricing is 270 euros and the device can come at around Rs.20,000

NVIDIA unveils Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor for Tablets and Mobile Phones

NVIDIA has unveiled the world’s first Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor for tablets and mobile phones. This is said to offer PC-class performance levels, better battery life and better mobile experiences (Better web experience, faster applications and multitasking) in tablets and mobile phones.This was previously named, Project Kal-El that was confirmed by the Nvidia CEO in AsiaD last month. Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime with Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU announced

Asus has announced their Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android tablet with Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 10.1-inch LED backlit display that offers 178-degree viewing angle and has a maximum brightness of 600 nits. The tablet is powered by Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and runs on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) with an update to Ice Cream Sandwich expected soon. It is 8.3mm thick and comes with a mini-HDMI output, microSD slot. The keyboard dock has Multi-touch pad, SD Card reader and a USB port. Adobe stopping development on Flash Player for mobile browsers

If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook  , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates.  This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.

Firefox for Android v8.0 update brings Better Security and Home Screen Bookmarks

Firefox for Android has been updated to version 8.0 that lets the users to set a master password to encrypt saved usernames and passwords for better security. This also has Home Screen Bookmark feature that lets the users add any bookmarks on their Android Home Screen. The Firefox mobile already has option to sync browser history, bookmarks, passwords and open tabs from any device and also supports add-ons. The previous version was Version 7.0 that was launched in September. Swype for Symbian updated to v2.1 in Nokia Beta Labs

Swype Keyboard Beta for Symbian has been updated to version 2.1 that brings Symbian Belle support and new install / uninstall experience that lets you install the app easily without any problem. They have solved all the critical issues raised on Nokia Beta for the period of last 8 weeks in the Beta Labs. This is also the last Beta release for the app before it gets graduated to the Ovi store. Motorola Defy+ Rugged Android phone now available in India for Rs.17990


Motorola Defy+ that is the successor of the Motorola Defy is now available in India. The phone was announced this August and it features 3.7 inch (480 x 854 pixels) display and is Water and scratch resistant and dustproof. It is powered by 1GHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It comes with a 5 MP camera with LED/Supercap flash with video recording at 30 fps. It is 13.4 mm thick and weighs 118 g. T-Mobile USA has announced that the Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus would be available from November 16. This is their third tablet to support HSPA+ connectivity after the 7-inch Springboard and the Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1. The Samsung GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus has 7-inch WSVGA(1024X600) PLS LCD multitouch display. It is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor runs on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) OS. It is 9.96mm thin and weighs 345g. HTC Edge Quad-core Android smartphone image and specs surface

According to the Pocketnow sources, HTC Edge might be the  world’s first mobile phone powered by quad-core processor. They have also posted an image of the phone (above). Nokia Lumia 800 meets the Nokia N9

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the first device from Nokia showcasing the result of the partnership between them and Microsoft. However the phone which had really caught the imagination of smartphone enthusiasts all over the world was the Nokia N9.
