We had reviewed the Lava E-Tab XTRON earlier and found it to be a pretty decent tablet for a really low price. But the company has improved upon the original and has labeled it the XTRON+ that launched recently, and as usual, we have unboxed it to show you what the differences and the box contents. Videocon Mobiles has launched the A24, the company’s new budget smartphone running Android 4.2. It has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has Dual SIM with dual standby, 3.2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Xiaomi introduces Hongmi smartphone with 4.7″ screen, Quad Core processor priced at $130

Popular China based smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, has today launched a brand new budget smartphone called Hongmi which translates to Red Rice. The phone brings relatively high end specifications including a quad core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Samsung phones have always performed well in the benchmarks. Usually their flagships take top spots in the benchmark and now a member of Beyond3D found that Samsung had optimized their GPU to run at a higher clock speed only for certain benchmarks.

Next-gen Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets rumored to feature high-res displays and Snapdragon 800 processor


Amazon announced the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch and 8.9-inch tablets back in September last year. These tablets were launched in India last month. Now rumors of the next-gen Kindle Fire HD tablets have surfaced. According to BGR, Amazon plans to launch 3 new tablets this year, a budget 7-inch tablet and two high-end tablets with 7-inch and 8.9-inch displays. Current Kindle Fire HD tablet have a dual-core OMAP chips, and the next-gen high-end Kindle Fire tablets are expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Oppo confirms new camera centric N-lens series of devices

We have already seen how the Oppo Find 5 had a great camera. If that wasn’t any indication how the Chinese company is serious about cameras, we have more information coming in. Oppo has just confirmed to Engadget on a previous scoop that they are indeed developing a new series of camera centric devices dubbed the “N-Lens”. These devices are more of connected cameras and less of cameraphones if the initial information is to be believed. But, the company also says that the N-Lens series of devices will be “most important flagship series for Oppo going forward.”

Sony launched its big ass new smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra in India though it won’t be available in retail till 2nd August. We’ve previously done a hands on with the handset that borders on being a tablet and here are some additional images of the 6.4″ behemoth. Our initial impressions are quite positive and if you can look past the size, the Xperia Z Ultra is definitely a very impressive device. Sony’s new Triluminous Display with with X-Reality engine works wonders and is a much needed improvement over the dim and not very impressive screen on the Xperia Z. The 6.4″ panel has a resolution of 1920×1080. HTC officially launched the Desire 600 Dual SIM last week. Here we have the device for unboxing. It is the first phone from HTC with GSM support to feature Dual Active SIM support that allows you to have two SIM cards active all the times, enabling you to receive a call on first SIM, even if you are already using the other. Since this is a Dual SIM Active device you don’t need any setup like the Samsung’s Smart Dual SIM feature.

Viber, cross platform VOIP (Voice Over IP) app for Android has been updated to version 3.1 that brings new features including option to send doodles over photos or create drawings, new emoticons, option to see when a message have been viewed by the recipient, support for more languages and lots more. Viber for other mobile platforms go updated to version 3.0 back in May and Viber apps for PCs and Macs were launched. Biometric fingerprint sensors have long been a popular way of implementing secure environments, even in portable devices like a laptop. While it has reached mainstream on most professional grade notebooks, it hasn’t really caught up in the mobile space, where security is of much higher importance. Companies have tried and implemented it in really niche devices, but the tech has happily avoided the mainstream. It is about to change, as seemingly true information from the iOS 7 beta 4 build points to a “Biometric Kit UI” directory that confirms that Apple is interested in implement high grade security, right on your new iPhone’s home button.

HTC posts 41 million USD net profit in Q2 2013, expects first losses in Q3

It is the results season, and every company has been relentlessly working on posting its numbers for the investors to analyze, and HTC is no exception. They have just revealed their complete audited performance numbers for Q2 2013 today. With the HTC One doing well, the revenue has increased, so has the profits, but that hasn’t stopped the company from expecting to post its first losses ever, from 0 to 8%, in the next quarter. The low impact of mid range devices from HTC are to be blamed as the company repeatedly ensured that it will have renewed focus on that specific market segment.

Samsung officially unveiled the Blue Arctic, Red Aurora, Purple Mirage, Brown Autumn and Pink Twilight color variants of the Galaxy S4 at the Samsung Premier 2013 last month. Now the Pink Twilight and Purple Mirage Samsung Galaxy S4 color variants have been officially launched in Taiwan. Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 initially in Black Mist and White Frost color variants and later announced that it would come in new color variants globally. BlackBerry has started rolling out a new BlackBerry OS 10.1 maintenance release update for both the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 devices. The BlackBerry 10.1 update was announced back in May at the BlackBerry Live conference in Orlando that brought  HDR Camera, Better BlackBerry Hub features Support for PIN to PIN messages, Fine Cursor Control and lots more. The BlackBerry 10.1 started rolling out soon after the announcement. Now the BlackBerry 10.1 maintenance update brings BlackBerry Hub enhancements, Imprvements to BlackBerry World, New BlackBerry Balance features and more.
