Unicode 13.0 to bring 117 new emoji including Polar bear, Ninja, Mammoth and more

Unicode, which is the international consortium that dictates computing industry standards has released its Emoji 13.0 standard for the year 2020. It includes 117 new emoji such as a smiling face with tear, Polar bear, a pinched finger, including 55 gender and skin-tone variants.

LG Q4 2019 losses widens on equity ties, sluggish smartphone sales

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 16.06 trillion won (US$ 13.65 billion) for the fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2019, which is up 2.3% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 101.8 billion won (US$ 86.5 million), up 26.1% YoY, while net profit was down 953% YoY to 849.8 billion won (US$ 717 billion). This is due to losses in its equity ties with LG display, in which it has 37.9% stake and sluggish smartphone sales. LG Display is said to post more than 1 trillion won in losses in 2019, according to analysts, and we should know the exact figures when it posts the results on Friday. Facebook posts $7.4 billion profit, up 6.78% YoY in Q4 2019, MAUs up 8%

Facebook has reported a good year for 2019 as it released its Q4 2019 earnings report. The total earnings posted for this quarter was $21082 million which amounts to a YoY growth of about 24.64% from Q4 2018. The net income on the other hand, was reported at $7349 million which calculates to an increase of approx. 6.78% YoY.

Samsung’s 2019 profits down 52.8% YoY, mobile profits down 8.8% YoY

Samsung has reported its earnings for Q4 2019 and the whole of 2019 that ended December 31, 2019. In Q4 2019 the company has made operating profit of 7.16 trillion won, down 33.7% YoY. realme X and realme Pro series devices will get two Android updates

realme announced Android 10 update roadmap for its devices back in September, but it didn’t mention anything about the older devices like realme C1, realme 2, realme U1. In the recent episode of #AskMadhav, the company’s CEO, Madhav Sheth said that the company will roll-out one Android update to all the smartphones, but didn’t mention anything about the premium series of devices such as realme X2 Pro.

Apple iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9?) with iPhone 8-like design, Touch ID surfaces [Update: New renders]

Update: New renders of the iPhone SE 2 / iPhone 9 have surfaced and the SE 2 is said to sport an LCD screen and this time around, the 3D touch is not said to make a return. Furthermore, it is said to be available in black, white, and red color combinations. The rest of the specifications are not known yet, but hopefully, more details will surface soon.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G with S Pen, 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, dual rear cameras announced

Samsung has announced Galaxy Tab S6 5G, which is the 5G version of the Galaxy Tab S6 that was introduced last year. It is powered by a Octa-Core Snapdragon 855 SoC with Qualcomm X50 5G modem. Other specifications are similar including a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA screen, quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN, in-display fingerprint scanner, 8-megapixel primary camera along with a 5-megapixel 123-degree ultra-wide camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. LG G8X ThinQ Review: Is the phone with Dual Screen worth it?

After announcing the G8X ThinQ back in September 2019 at the IFA, the South Korean company has launched the flagship device in the Indian market in Aurora Black color at Rs. 49,999 bundled with LG Dual Screen accessory.

While we loved the LG V40 ThinQ, our expectation were sky-high for this device considering its dual display feature. Google Translate will soon offer live transcription on Android

During a demonstration of Artificial Intelligence demos at its San Francisco office, Google showed a prototype feature that is in development for Google Translate called Live Transcription. The feature, if it finally arrives to the public, will allow users to speak in one language and transcribe it to another language in real time on Google Translate.

Apple releases iPadOS and iOS v13.3.1 with new location setting for U1 chip, security bug fixes and more

Apple has rolled out new software updates to iOS and iPadOS changing the software version from 13.3 to 13.3.1. As the software version indicates, this update is a small incremental update with quite a few bug fixes. Noticeably, there is a security fix that now stops contacts being added without entering passcode and Apple has added a setting to control location data sent via the U1 Chip.

OPPO Find X2 Pro with QHD+ OLED 120Hz screen could launch in India soon as it receives BIS certification

OPPO Find X which was launched back in 2018 was a bold attempt from the company with the motorized dual rear camera setup and was quite successful too. While there was no information on the successor for quite some time now, it is likely to change now as the Find X2 Pro has received BIS certification, indicating an imminent launch.
