Microsoft to debut Skype Translator app with Real-Time Speech Translation by the end of 2014

In a bid to connect people from different continents with different language, Microsoft is bringing real-time speech translation functionality to Skype by the end of this year. The feature was demonstrated by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at Re/code’s Code Conference in the US.

Toshiba unveils Encore 2 Windows 8.1 Tablets

Toshiba has introduced two brand new tablets that run on full version of Windows 8.1. Dubbed as Encore 2, the Japanese company has unveiled two tablets is 8 inch and 10.1 inch model. Toshiba had launched the original Encore tablet in an 8-inch configuration for $329 last year in September.

Images of the LG G Pad 7.0 has been leaked by a French website FrAndroid before the official launch. Announced earlier this month, LG G Pad 7.0 is the smallest tablet in the G Pad series which also has G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1.

Samsung Galaxy S5 can now measure your stress level

Samsung Galaxy S5 boasts of a heart rate sensor that can measure and monitor users heart rate. Located below its 16MP camera, the sensor uses the S Health app on the phone to track daily activities of the users. The company has pushed an update to the S Health app that will read your stress level.

LG confirms Android KitKat update to G Pro Lite and L9 II

LG is rolling out Android KitKat update to G Pro Lite and Optimus L9 II according to the LG Italy’s Facebook Page. As per the announcement, the L9 II will receive the 4.4.2 KitKat update “in the coming weeks” while the G Pro Lite towards the end of Q2. However, there are reports coming from Slovakia that L9 II has already starting receiving the update.

Apple reportedly planning to foray into Smart Home market

The year 2014 was touted to be the year of wearables and we did see devices like smartwatch, smart ring, smart contact lens and range of fitness trackers. Another new technology that we saw this year were “Smart Appliances” which reminded us of the popular cartoon Jetsons. Companies like LG and Samsung sell home appliances like washers and refrigerators that can be connected to internet and controlled via smartphone.

LG G3 Wireless Charging dock leaked ahead of release

Last week leaked presentation slides confirmed all the specifications of the much anticipated smartphone LG G3. The company also announced QuickCircle Cases for its upcoming flagship smartphone that is scheduled for a launch this week on May 27th. These folder-style case lets users check the time, place calls, send text messages, take photos, listen to music and more from the circular window, without opening the phone. More leaks related to accessories of the phone have surfaced online over the weekend.

Flipkart secures $210 million in funding from DST Global and others

Apple asks the US Court to ban sales of Samsung devices

Apple is not letting it go. The iPhone and iPad maker is re-targeting Samsung for patent infringement. Apple has filed a motion with the US court to block the U.S. sale of some older Samsung products. The move comes from the company after a jury verdict earlier this month that Samsung violated three of its patents. Apple was granted mere $119.6 million in damages against $2 billion demanded in this latest verdict.
