Facebook launches official music videos for desktop, iOS and Android in India

Facebook has announced the launch of official music videos on their platform from artists across different publishers in the United States, and Thailand. Users will be able to discover, watch and share music by genre, artist, or mood, as well as access theme-based playlists like “Top Bollywood”, “Top Artists,” among others and has partnerships with T -Series Music, Zee Music Company, and Yash Raj Films. In the US it offers contents from artists like J. Balvin, Karol G, Sebastian Yatra, and more.

Philips launches new true wireless earbuds, neckband headset, soundbars in India

The Philips Audio range is getting expanded as TPV has announced the launch of multiple new audio products that will go on sale during Amazon’s upcoming Prime Day sales. These include their TAT4205BK truly wireless earbuds, the TAN2215BK wireless neckband, the HTL4080 wireless soundbar and the HTL1045 soundbar.

OnePlus leads Indian premium smartphone market in Q2 2020 with 29% market share: Report

The premium smartphone segment (above Rs. 30000) recorded an overall decline of about 32% YoY in Q2 2020, as the market continued to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. OnePlus took the first place in market share for this quarter, close followed by Samsung second place and Apple in third place.

Worldwide tablet shipments up 18.6% YoY in Q2 2020; 38.6 million units shipped: IDC

While the COVID-19 pandemic caused most consumer electronics markets  to decline in 2020, the worldwide tablet shipment went the opposite way and recorded strong growth of 18.6% YoY in Q2 2020. A total of 38.6 million units were shipped and Apple maintained its top position, followed by Samsung, Huawei, Amazon and Lenovo.

Samsung UV Sterilizer for smartphones, earbuds and more launched in India for Rs. 3599

Earlier this month, Samsung announced the launch of a new product called the UV sterilizer, and it is now available for purchase in India. The product can would quickly disinfect and sterilize smartphones, earbuds, keys, sunglasses in under 10 minutes and even has a wireless charger built-in.

Worldwide smartphone shipments decline 16% YoY in Q2 2020, 278.4 million units shipped

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the smartphone market as IDC has reported that the worldwide smartphone market declined by 16% YoY in Q2 2020. Total shipments were recorded at 278.4 million smartphones and the top 5 manufacturers for the quarter were HUAWEI, Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi and OPPO.

InterDigital files patent infringement cases against Xiaomi over cellular and H.265 technologies

InterDigital, an Indian mobile and video technology research and development company, today announced that they are taking action against Xiaomi for infringing on patents involving cellular and H.265/HEVC Indian patents. InterDigital has stated that they are willing to settle the issue with Xiaomi under the terms of a FRAND license.
