Intel has launched a bunch of new products aimed at the deployment of 5G network infrastructure along with an update to its scalable data centre focussed processors. These include their new Atom P5900 processors, Ethernet 700 Series Network Adapter and Diamond Mesa ASIC for 5G network acceleration.

The race for 5G surges ahead as major 5G modem chip manufacturer, Qualcomm has announced its 3rd generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution called the Snapdragon X60. It features the worlds first 5nm 5G baseband and has spectrum aggregation across all key 5G bands and combinations.
It is clear that Apple wants to distance itself as far as possible from Qualcomm, even though they settled the long legal battle with them last year. News has popped up claiming that Apple is trying to design their own 5G antenna for the upcoming 2020 iPhones that will be released soon, in attempt to use as little Qualcomm products as possible.

During June 2019, popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that all the iPhones released in 2020 will come with 5G support and will come 4 model sizes. Now in another report, he has claimed that all 4 models is on track to be released in 2020 with 5G capabilities with sub-6GHz and mmWave support.

Samsung has announced that it has shipped over it shipped more than 6.7 million Galaxy 5G smartphones globally that includes Galaxy S10 5G, Note10 5G, Note10+ 5G, Galaxy A90 5G and Galaxy Fold 5G. It added that as of November 2019, Samsung accounted for 53.9% of the global 5G smartphone market globally. Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G, which will be available in Korea in the first quarter of 2020, will be the world’s first 5G tablet. India is going to be one step closer to having full 5G rollouts nationwide the government is looking into 5G trials by the end of this fiscal year, according to a report. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has also confirmed that the auction for 5G airwaves will be held in April -March.

At the MediaTek Summit in San Diego, the company teased its upcoming 5G chip with the model number MT6885Z. It also confirmed that it will introduce the chip on November 26th. At the Computex 2019 in Taiwan back in May the company’s already said that the 5G SoC will be built using 7nm FinFET process technology and MediaTek Helio M70 5G modem built in, and we can expect the full specifications of this chip at the event.

MediaTek at the Computex 2019 in Taiwan today announced the company’s first 5G SoC built using 7nm FinFET process technology and MediaTek Helio M70 5G modem built in. It uses the latest Cortex-A77 CPU, Mali-G77 GPU and MediaTek’s most advanced AI processing unit (APU). The multi-mode 5G chipset is for 5G stand alone and non-stand alone (SA/NSA) sub-6GHz networks. It supports connectivity from 2G to 4G to bridge existing network access while 5G networks roll out globally.
