Samsung to pay $1.05 billion in damages to Apple for infringing patents

The jury presiding over the Apple vs Samsung trial in a US court has just reached a verdict. We were thinking this trial would last several weeks or even months and to everyone’s surprise the jury announced the verdict just minutes ago. Pretty bad news from Samsung has it has been found to infringe several patents owned by Apple. Samsung must pay Apple $1 billion, 51 million 855 thousand dollars $1051855000 . That is about Rs.5828.33 crores or five thousand odd crores of rupees in damages to just give you an idea about the magnitude of the verdict. Google Nexus 7 Unboxing

I was recently in the US on a short visit and managed to pick up the Google Nexus 7 first Android Tablet to run on Android 4.1 JellyBean. Here is a quick unboxing video of the this tiny little tablet from Google & Asus which is priced at $199 (excluding tax and shipping). This 7 inch tablet has a back-lit IPS display which sports a resolution of 1280×800 pixels

Motorola has announced Motorola ATRIX HD for AT&T. It has 4.5-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) HD ColorBoost TFT display with 330 PPI that lets you view images with vibrant colors and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is powered by 1.5 GHz Dual-core processor and has 8 MP auto-focus camera with zero shutter lag, 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps and 720p HD front-facing camera. Motorola Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx Android 4.0 update now rolling out in the US

Motorola has started rolling the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for Motorola Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx devices. The Android 4.0 images for Droid Razr leaked earlier this February and later it was shown off in official demo videos. The Motorola Razr has received Android 4.0 in Korea that also brings SMARTACTIONS and MOTOPRINT apps. Google Nexus 7 Price Revealed – $199 takes on the Amazon Kindle Fire

Google has announced it’s first Nexus branded tablet in partnership with Asus and it has announced the price of the 7 inch tablet. Consumers can order the tablet from the Google Play Store directly. The tablet will be available for $199 starting from mid-July. Looks like Google is taking on the Amazon Kindle Fire which is priced exactly the same. Sony Xperia ion coming to AT&T on June 24

The Sony Xperia Ion that was announced at CES 2012 in January would finally be available on AT&T from 24th June. The global HSPA version of the phone was announced recently. It has 4.55-inch (1280 x 720 pixels ) HD Reality display and comes with 1.5Ghz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and has 12MP auto focus camera with Exmor R mobile camera sensor with 1080p HD video recording and 720p HD front-facing camera. Samsung has launched TecTiles Programmable NFC Tags that can be customized to launch apps, send text messages, share contact information, change phone settings, send text messages automatically and more, with NFC-enabled Galaxy smartphones. Samsung has officially announced that the Samsung Galaxy S III would be available from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular starting in June. It would come 4.8-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 2.0 to guard against cracks and scratches and is powered by Snapdragon S4 Dual Core 1.5 GHz processor. T-Mobile Prism coming on May 6 for $19.99

T-Mobile has announced that their new budget-friendly Android phone Prism from Huawei that would go on sale starting May 6. It has 3.5-inch (480 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 3.2-megapixel camera, microSD slot for up to 32GB.
