Amazon announces Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch Tablet for $299, 4G LTE at $499


Amazon has announced the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 along with their 7-inch Kindle Fire HD. This comes with a 8.9-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) display with 254 ppi. It has a polarizing filter on the LCD panel for deep contrast and rich color and anti-glare technology, so that you can view it from any angle. It is powered by an 1.5 GHz Dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP processor and has SGX544 graphics engine. It runs on customized version of Android, but the version is not known yet. It has Dolby audio with dual stereo speakers, Dual-band WiFi with dual-antennas / MIMO for 40% faster throughput than other tablets. It also comes in 4G LTE version.

They have also announced Amazon-exclusive features like X-Ray for Movies, X-Ray for Textbooks, Immersion Reading, Whispersync for Voice, Whispersync for Games, and Kindle FreeTime.

The 16GB and the 32GB Wi-Fi version of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 costs $299 and $369 respectively, while the 32GB and the 64GB 4G + Wi-Fi version would cost $499 and $599, respectively. Customers can opt for AT&T data plan with 250 MB a month for 12 months, 20GB of additional cloud storage, and a $10 Appstore credit with a one-time payment of $49.99. These are expected to ship on November 20.
