Sony Xperia M and M dual with 4-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.2 announced

Sony has announced the Xperia M and M dual the company’s new mid-range Android smartphones. These phones have a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8227 processor with Adreno 305 GPU.  Xperia M dual comes with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), while the Xperia M would launch on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is upgradable to Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. These phones are based on OmniBalance design similar to the Xperia Z, have LED illuminations for notification and NFC connectivity for one-touch functions. The Xperia M dual comes with dual SIM support with dual Standby. Qualcomm expands its Tablet Reference Design to support Snapdragon 400 chips for emerging markets

Qualcomm has announced that they have expanded its Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) portfolio with a reference design made specifically for 7-inch and 10-inch version of tablets running on its Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM 8230 and MSM 8030 processors. The tablets support 3G HSPA+ connectivity, WiFi and 1080 encoding and decoding. Qualcomm unveils new Snapdragon 400 Quad Core chip MSM8926, with in-built multi mode LTE

Qualcomm, one of the leading chip manufacturers for mobile devices, has just unveiled a new variant of the Snapdragon 400 chipset, with support for Quad Core processors and multi mode 3G/4G LTE connectivity. This move enables Qualcomm to capture some of the lost low-end chip marketshare that has been recently been inundated with chipsets from companies like MediaTek. The MSM8926 chip, as it is codenamed, adds support for quad core Cortex A7 processors and mainly, multi mode 3G/4G LTE connectivity, which will enable mass market devices to sport LTE modems at very low prices.

MTS that operates under Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has launched the Duet, the company’s latest dual SIM Android smartphone. The phone has a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) HVGA capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It supports CDMA on SIM card and GSM on the other. The phone comes bundled with voice & data plan. It comes with 3-megapixel rear camera, supports expandable memory up to 32GB and packs a 1200 mAh battery. Xolo X1000 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update coming this week

Xolo X1000 would get the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update this week, according to reports from NDTV Gadgets. Xolo launched the X1000, successor of the X900 back in March. Android Jelly Bean port for the Intel smartphones was ready back in September but the company released the phone running Android 4.0 at the launch. Xolo already promised at the launch that the phone would get the Jelly Bean update eventually.  The latest Xolo Smartphones, the Q700 and Q1000 powered by MediaTek chip comes with Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Gmail v4.5 for Android starts rolling out, brings Slide-out Navigation and new Inbox

Google has started rolling out the Gmail v4.5 update for Android. Google announced a new update for Gmail app for Android, iPhone and iPad last week. The new update brings new Inbox with tabs and categories such as Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums, slide-out navigation and lots more new features. Now there is a separate section for action confirmations in the settings. Now there is a pull to refresh option removing the refresh button and the compose and search buttons have moved to the top. HCL Infosystems has officially launched the ME Connect 2G 2.0 tablet. It went on sale online last week and packs a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2-megapixel camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It has 2G connectivity through a SIM card slot and supports voice calling. It supports reading and writing 11 local Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu ,Kannada, Bengali, Marathi and more. Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time trailer released, coming exclusively to iPhone and iPad in July


PopCap games announced back in August 2012 that a Plants vs. Zombies sequel would be released in Spring 2013. The company teased the game last month calling it Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time and saying that the game would be available in July 2013. Now the game trailer is finally here. Vine video sharing app arrives for Android

Twitter has finally launched the Vine Video sharing app for Android. The app was first launched for iPhone earlier this year. Vine let users upload a video clip up to 6 seconds directly from their mobile phone that loops automatically.It even got an update last month that brought option to use the front-facing camera to record videos and tagging function. Foxconn to develop Firefox devices

As we had reported previously, The Foxconn Technology Group today announced a partnership with Mozilla to collaborate and create devices based on the Firefox OS. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. as it is officially known has announced that is working on more than five devices ranging from smartphones to televisions based on the Firefox OS.

The alliance with Mozilla comes at a time when the company is trying to grow beyond its original design manufacturing roots to a combination of software and hardware offerings. Apple pushes for license deals as music streaming service launch at WWDC beckons

Apple, especially, Steve Jobs, is known to be a hard negotiator. Having revolutionized the digital music industry with the iTunes store, the media industry is no stranger to the ways and methods of Apple negotiations. But recently, Apple seems to have been going through a hard time negotiating with record labels and artists for one little reason, they are late. The music streaming service, which was pioneered by various start ups like Pandora in the US and Spotify in the Europe, is a novel way to listen to music, for free. Supported by advertising, the streaming services apparently make far less money than the traditional a la carte way of buying music, like the iTunes. They might be late but that doesn’t stop Apple from launching their own streaming service, because that’s the demand of the day.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD has received the Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) update as the company promised. The A116 Canvas HD was launched with Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Micromax launched the A110Q Canvas Plus last month that runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. The Micromax A110 Canvas 2 got the Android 4.1 update back in March. The Micromax A116 update would also be available from the Micromax Service Centers where the users can take their devices to get it flashed to Android 4.2 without any cost.
