Sony just launched Xperia XA1 Ultra successor of last year’s Xperia XA Ultra in India. It was introduced at the MWC earlier this year, has the same 6-inch 1080p display and a 2700mAh battery as the predecessor, but this is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P20 processor and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat).

Japanese internet and telecom conglomerate, SoftBank’s 20 percent stake purchase in One97 Communications, the parent company of digital payments platform Paytm, has been approved by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The approval comes two months after Paytm raised Rs 9,000 crores ($1.4 billion) from SoftBank, making it the biggest investment by the Softbank in the Indian internet ecosystem.

Avast, popular for its security products has announced that it has acquired Piriform, creator of CCleaner popular system cleaning utility used by 130 million people, including 15 million Android users. Avast said that it will maintain and support CCleaner separately from its current optimization portfolio, and Piriform customers will continue to get the attention and service they are used to. Before the re-launch of Nokia, HMD Global last year appointed Arto Nummela, who previously held senior positions at Nokia as the CEO of the company. He launched the new Nokia Android smartphones and the new 3310 at the MWC 2017. Today HMD Global announced that Arto Nummela will leave HMD with immediate effect, through mutual agreement between him and the HMD Global Board of Directors.

After several delays, Samsung has finally launched the Bixby Voice assistant in U.S. English for Galaxy S8 and S8+ users in the United States and Korea. The Samsung Galaxy S8 series phones come with dedicated Bixby hardware button that lets you access Bixby Voice by pressing and holding it. Update – July 20: OnePlus has released a statement saying that it will be rolling out the software update soon to fix the issue.

Samsung started mass production of industry’s first 4-gigabyte (GB) DRAM package based on the second-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) interface back in January last year. Later it unveiled 8-gigabyte (GB) DRAM which has double the capacity of 4GB HBM2.
