Micromax appoints Shubhajit Sen as CMO

Micromax has announced that it has appointed Shubhajit Sen as its Chief Marketing Officer. He will replace Shubhodip Pal who was the company’s CMO since December 2012. Shubhajit Sen previously served as Executive Vice President – Marketing of Glaxo Smith Kline Consumer Health Limited for 21 years. He is an Economics graduate from SRCC, Delhi University and an MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad. He will focus on leading all marketing efforts for the company across markets while strengthening the overall brand communication, said Micromax. It has 5-inch HD screen, is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. The front camera doesn’t have LED flash like the Iris X5 that was launched last year. Huawei opens new R&D center in Bangalore by investing over US$ 170 million

Huawei today announced that it has launched its new Research & Development center in Whitefield, Bangalore. The one million sq. ft. campus built on a 20 acre land will accommodate up to 5,000 engineers and includes an R&D Block, customer experience center, large cafeteria, multilevel car park and residential block for expat employees, said the company. Huawei has invested over US$ 170 million (Rs. 1051 crores approx.) in building the new campus in Bangalore. YU YUREKA gets first Cyanogen OS bug-fix OTA update

YU has rolled out the first Cyanogen OS update, XNPH05Q for the YUREKA smartphone in about three weeks after the smartphone went on sale, as it promised at the launch. As you can see from the screenshot, the incremental update brings security fixes and improvements for the proximity sensor and dual SIM functionality. Samsung Galaxy E5 Benchmarks

Samsung launched the Galaxy E5 smartphone in the E series in India last month for Rs. 19,300.  We brought you the unboxing and the photo gallery of the smartphone recently, here we have the benchmarks. It powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) SoC that has four ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.19 GHz per core and Adreno 306 GPU clocked at 400 MHz, similar to other A and E series smartphones.  It has 1.5GB RAM, 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat).
