Panasonic Eluga I2 Active with 5-inch HD display, Android 7.0, 4G VoLTE launched starting at Rs. 7190
Panasonic has launched Eluga I2 Active, the company’s latest budget smartphone in the country. It has a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor, runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat), has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a metal body, but has huge bezels and doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. Indian smartphone market growth sluggish at 3.2% in Q2 2017 : IDC
A total of 28 million smartphones were shipped to India in Q2 2017, which is a modest 3.7 percent Quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth and a meagre 1.6 percent Year-on-year (YoY) growth, according to the latest International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. Moto Z Play Android 7.1.1 Nougat update starts rolling out in India
Lenovo-owned Moto back in June started its first Android 7.1.1 Nougat soak test in India. After finishing three soak tests, the company has started rolling out stable Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) update in the country recently, few months after it roll out Android 7.0 (Nougat) update. Nokia 5 with 5.2-inch display, Android 7.1 will go on sale in India from August 15 for Rs. 12499
HMD Global introduced its Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Android smartphones in India back in June. The Nokia 3 was the first phone in the series to go on sale in the country in June for Rs. 9499. At the launch the company said that other phones will be available in July, but later it confirmed that they will be available only in mid-August. Lenovo PHAB 2 series including Tango-enabled Phab 2 Pro will not get Android 7.0 Nougat update
Lenovo launched the PHAB 2 Plus in India last year, later it launched the PHAB 2 in the country in December. It even launched the PHAB 2 Pro, the world’s first Google tango-enabled smartphone for consumers earlier this year. All these phones were launched running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The company’s roadmap has revealed that the phones will not get updated to Android Nougat since it says that it doesn’t have any upgrades planned for the series.
