Uber has announced that it has completed 500 million trips in India. The cab aggregator reached this milestone four years since its entry in the country. Uber has also registered a double digit growth in India and almost 2.5 times YoY growth as of June’ 2017.

Karbonn has launched Aura Note Play, a new smartphone in the ‘Aura Note’ series. It has a 6-inch HD display, is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor and runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat). PayPal today launched two Technology Innovation Labs in Chennai and Bengaluru. This is the first Innovation Lab by PayPal in India and the third after US and Singapore. These labs will actively support technology innovation across diverse fields including machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, data science, IoT, penetration testing, software defined radios and wireless communication, VR/AR, computer vision and basic robotics.

Apple has asked the Indian government to extend tax breaks to its suppliers if India to start making phones in India instead of simply assembling them. Government officials told Reuters that meeting this request would mean India would have to formulate a new policy that applies fairly to all device makers.

It looks like Paytm is gearing up to foray into the instant messaging market. The mobile payment service is planning to build messaging functionality into its app, according to a latest report from the Wall Street Journal. One of the people familiar with the matter said that the feature could be rolled out as soon as two weeks.

After Delhi, ACT Fibernet has upgraded its plans for Chennai, for the second time this year, after it was upgraded in April. Speed of the plans remain the same, but the monthly data limit of both download and upload is now combined and is not counted separately. For example, the Rs. 1999 with 150Mbps speed and 350GB download and 350GB upload limit now comes with combined limit of 700GB. Normally ACT doesn’t mention the data uploaded separately on the site or the app, now it should be easy to track. Last week Lenovo confirmed that it will launch its K8 Note smartphone in India on August 9th, skipping the K7 Note. Today Amazon India has announced that it will be available exclusively with them while teasing the performance and camera of phone. Last year’s Vibe K5 Note was launched on Flipkart, but the K6 Note that was launched in late 2016 was launched through offline stores in the country. BlackBerry has launched its KEYone smartphone in India, as expected. It is designed, manufactured and sold by Optiemus in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It has a 4.5-inch (1620 x 1080 pixels) display with 3:2 aspect ratio and has a 4-row QWERTY physical backlit keyboard with keys that respond to touch gestures, support for flick typing, up to 52 customizable shortcuts and the fingerprint sensor is built into the spacebar.
