The just announced Google Nexus 5 has been spotted on the Indian Play Store, with it listed as “coming soon” to India along with the price tags of Rs. 28,999 for the 16GB version and Rs. 32,999 for the 32 GB version. The Nexus 5 was just announced by LG and Google, but had leaked like a broken cauldron over the internet for the past few weeks and even months. The phone has a 5 inch full HD IPS screen with LG’s own in-cell touch technology and is powered by the blazing fast Snapdragon 800 processor, among many other hardware features. It also runs on the latest version of Android – 4.4 KitKat which has been spruced up with new user interface changes, a changed dialer, and a lot more under the hood for developers to take advantage of. Now that the phone has been announced, we think it might not take long to arrive in India as the listing has already shown up on the Indian Play Store.

Intel to make 64 bit ARM chips starting next year

Intel Quark SoC

Intel is gearing up to start making 64 bit ARM chips starting next year. Before you jump to conclusions, do know that Intel is planning to fabricate 64 bit ARM chips for its partner Altera, signaling a huge wave of change for the company. It is very well known that Intel is struggling in its mobile business, only recently making strides with the Clovertrail and Baytrail SoCs, and they are all based on the x86 architecture. Intel does not only make its own chips, it does fabrication for other companies too, like Altera for example. The current market leader for ARM fabrication is undoubtedly TSMC, which does fabrication for most companies from Nvidia to Qualcomm. So, in perfect sense, Intel is now a competitor to TSMC rather than Qualcomm or Nvidia.

Panasonic P11 Unboxing

panasonic-p11-unboxing-12

Panasonic might have announced its retirement from the consumer smartphone market worldwide, but weirdly enough, that has not stopped the company from launching devices in India. One of them is the Panasonic P11, which seems like a specced down version of the P51 that we reviewed earlier. The P11 has almost the same specifications as the P51, with a quad core 1.2 GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, but running on the older Android 4.1 operating system. But what’s striking is the outer shell, in a radical fluorescent green colour. But not to worry, there are replaceable covers in the box, which we show you in the unboxing video here –

htc-one-mini-aluminium-1

The HTC One mini was announced as the company’s answer to people wanting a compact version of the popular flagship – One, but it arguably did a “mini” on the specifications too, which left people wanting more, especially with that price tag. As if things couldn’t get any worse, the One mini has finally gotten its official launch in India, and it has a MOP price of Rs. 36,790, well above the earlier price some e-tailers had posted. While the price may be a bit on the higher side, the One mini does bring a lot of features that were made popular by the One, including the 4 MP UltraPixel camera, the HTC Zoe camera feature and a really good SLCD2 screen spanning 4.3 inches and sporting a 1280×720 resolution.
