It’s been a while since we saw a compelling flagship from HTC. The HTC 10 Evo launched back a couple of months back wasn’t much of an upgrade over the 10 and offered little reason for users to upgrade. With the U Ultra, the company has adopted a somewhat refreshed design though the device is unmistakably an HTC. What is more interesting is that HTC isn’t really calling this its flagship and maintains that it still has a lot more under its sleeve. Depending on who you speak to, wearables and in particular smartwatches are a failed category. The pace of fresh launches has slowed down to a trickle and smartwatches just haven’t quite caught the market by storm the way they were expected to. An over-dependence on a paired phone, little use beyond notifications has made these a tough sell. The convergence of technology has led to many beautiful innovations in terms of gadgets. While smartphones have come a long way in terms of providing almost everything that a user needs to get their work done, there are times that you still need a laptop to get things done just that much quicker and better.
