Intex launched the Aqua Octa, India’s first MediaTek Octa-Core powered smartphone last month. We already brought you the unboxing of the Aqua Octa. Here we have the benchmarks of the smartphone. It is powered by a 1.66 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor which has 8 ARM Cortex-A7 CPUs and is based on 28nm HPM. Basemark X updated to v1.1 for Android, iPhone and iPad, released for Windows Phone 8

Rightware launched the Basemark OS II cross-platform benchmarking tool for Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone 8 last month. Today it updated the Basemark X cross-platform benchmarking tool to version 1.1 and has also released it on Windows Phone 8. Basemark X that was released last year was based on Unity 4.0 gaming engine, the version 1.1 Unity gaming engine version 4.2.2. This also adds new features and a new test called Hangar. As usual you get configurable settings and score breakdown in results screen in the full version. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 went on sale in India last month, but only the White colored phone was available at the launch. Now the Black Galaxy Grand 2 is available in India from the official Samsung India eStore. It has a leather-like back cover similar to the white version. Other specifications are exactly similar to the White one, including a 5.25-inch (1280 x 720 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS. HP has launched Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab, the company’s latest phablets in the VoiceTab series, as it promised last week. The HP Slate 6 VoiceTab has a 6-inch HD IPS display sporting a 1280×720 pixels resolution and the HP Slate 7 VoiceTab will have a 7-inch HD 1280×800 pixels IPS display. These devices would be powered by a quad-core processor and run on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). These also have dual SIM support, dual front-facing speakers, 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, but the Slate 7 VoiceTab lacks LED flash. HTC Desire 8 with 5.5-inch display, 13MP camera leaks

HTC Desire 8, the company’s upcoming mid-range smartphone has leaked. This smartphone destined for China has a 5.5-inch screen (resolution is not available yet), has dual SIM support and packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Even though it has a 13MP rear camera, it doesn’t have Ultrapixel technology like the HTC One series. It also has dual front-facing speakers and is likely to come with on-screen touch buttons, eliminating the capactive touch buttons. LG has finally unveiled the most expected G Pro 2 smartphone ahead of MWC 2014, as it promised last week. It has a 5.9-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display with 3.3mm slim bezel and 77.2% screen-to-body ratio, powered by a 2.26 GHz  quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS+, 4K Ultra HD video recording, Slow motion video recording at 120 FPS and has a range of camera features such as Magic Focus, Natural Flash, Flash for Selfie, Burst Shot and more. Microsoft reportedly discussing support for Android apps on Windows Phone and Windows

Microsoft is in discussions to add support for Android apps in Windows and Windows Phone, according to a report from TheVerge. Sources have told TheVerge that Microsoft is serious about bringing Android apps to both its platforms, but the discussions are still ongoing and nothing is concrete yet. The ongoing talks currently point to adding Android apps in the Windows Phone and Windows Stores, according to the report, which will inadvertently boost the app numbers, something that Microsoft really needs. Windows Phone and Windows have been second thoughts for any new developer looking at developing an app, and at most of the times, there are not enough resources to dedicate for a third platform, so will Android apps support on Windows and Windows Phone make sense?

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Lime Photo Gallery

We had just unboxed the new Xperia Z1 Compact, Sony’s latest “mini” flagship device that is as powerful as its big brother, the Xperia Z1. The Japanese had finally delivered what everyone wanted, a small screened device in today’s standards, but with no compromise on power or features. With Snapdragon 800, 20.7 MP Sony camera with G Lens and Bionz sensor, a waterproof body in a design similar to the Z1, it checks all the marks for the best possible Android device with a smaller screen, unlike the ill performing “mini”s from Samsung or HTC. But that aside, the Z1 compact also looks really good, with a colourful lime coloured outer shell in the variant we got, so to showcase the device before our review, here is a photo gallery and walkthrough of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z1 Compact, the company’s latest smartphone in the Xperia Z series at the CES 2014 last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device earlier today, here we have the benchmarks of the smartphone. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.15 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU, similar to the Xperia Z1. HTC M8 poses for the camera with on screen buttons and a familiar design

The HTC M8 is possibly the worst kept secret in the mobile industry right now, just like its predecessor, the HTC One. The Taiwanese company has been planning its next flagship for a while now, and our bets are on a MWC reveal later this month. After leaking out in the flesh, with dual cameras on the back and even on screen buttons on the front, the latest leak portrays the HTC M8 with a full view of the front. As expected, we are seeing the leaked on screen buttons, and also the very familiar design from the HTC One, which is a good thing.
