Xiaomi announced Redmi Note 5 along with Redmi Note 5 Pro running on MIUI 9.2 based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) in India back in February. Redmi Note 5 Pro has been the talk of the town since its launch, but Redmi Note 5 (Also called Redmi 5 Plus in global markets including China) is not so popular as compared to Redmi Note 5 Pro. OnePlus has released new beta updates (Beta 13 for the OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 11 for OnePlus 5T) for the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones that finally brings support for Project Treble. The company said that it has finally found a solution to bring Treble support after several months of evaluation and hard work, even though last year it said that old devices won’t get Project treble. Google released Android ‘P’ Beta 2 (DP3) for the Pixel smartphones last month, now it has released Beta 3 (DP4) for the phones. Android P Beta 2 included the final APIs (API level 28) as well as the official SDK, the latest beta includes the latest bug fixes and optimizations for stability and polish, along with the July 2018 security updates. Vivo announced Z1 in China in May, today it has officially introduced the Z1i, a cheaper version of the smartphone in China, after it surfaced last week. It has specifications as the Z1, including a 6.26-inch FHD+ 19:9 2.5D curved glass display with a notch, 90% screen-to-body ratio and narrow bezels, 4GB of RAM, Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Funtouch OS 4.0 on top and features a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera, but this is powered by Snapdragon 636 instead of Snapdragon 660, comes with 128GB of storage and a 16-megapixel front camera. Xiaomi launched Mi A1 back in September last year under Android One programme in collaboration with Google with an aim to keep the Android version updated for next couple of years. MIUI Notification panel was amongst the things that users hated back in MIUI 8 days because it didn’t have basic stock android features like bundled notifications and had painful two finger swipe down gesture to expand notifications. Xiaomi addressed the complaint and announced New Notification Shade with MIUI 9 and started rolling out the feature to MIUI Global Beta ROM users in November 2017 but MIUI Global Stable ROM users had to wait till March 2018 as company enabled New Notification Shade with MIUI 9.5 update. Redmi Note 5 Pro users are yet to receive this feature as MIUI 9.5 update for Redmi Note 5 Pro is expected to be rolled out this week. Panasonic has announced Toughbook FZ-T1, the company’s latest rugged handheld targeted at enterprise customers including retail and hospitality, manufacturing, transportation and logistics. It hasintegrated barcode scanner with two trigger buttons, either side of the device, and will also get a separate long and short range barcode scanning accessory for inventory management such as scanning from forklifts, shelf stocking, assisted sales or order taking and queue busting.
