Google Chrome gets AI Mode shortcut on iOS and Android

Google has made it easier for mobile users to access AI Mode in Chrome, its most advanced AI-powered search experience.

Users on iOS and Android will now see a new AI Mode button below the search bar when opening a New Tab page in Chrome. The shortcut allows users to ask complex, multi-part questions and continue exploring with follow-up queries and relevant links, offering a conversational search experience powered by Google’s AI.

This update follows Google’s broader integration of Gemini in Chrome, announced as part of the browser’s largest AI upgrade. The rollout includes AI Mode access from the omnibox, Gemini-based page summaries, contextual suggestions, and improved scam detection using Gemini Nano.

Availability

The new AI Mode shortcut is now available in the U.S., with expansion to 160 additional countries and support for more languages — including Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and others — planned across desktop and mobile platforms in the coming weeks.
