Vodafone announced the Vodafone Drive into the Big League contest for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) back in August. Now it has announced Havmor Ice Cream Limited  as the winner of the contest after  two months. Vodafone plans to increase its stake in the Indian unit


Vodafone in planning to buy out minority shareholders in its Indian arm for about US$2 billion, according to a recent report from the Financial Times. Vodafone owns about 64% of Vodafone India. Piramal Healthcare run by Billionaire industrialist Ajay Piramal has 11% stake and the remaining 25% stake is controlled by undisclosed minority shareholders. Vodafone and ICICI Bank launch M-Pesa mobile money transfer service in Delhi and NCR


Vodafone India  partnered with ICICI Bank to launch M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer and payment service back in April 2013. Now Vodafone India has announced that they have launched the M-Pesa service in Delhi and NCR region. It offers a simple and secure way to transfer money and make payments with the security of financial transactions provided by ICICI Bank. This service offers unbanked and under serviced sections of the country to gain access to financial services via the mobile phone. Vodafone has announced Vodafone Drive into the Big League contest for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This is the third season of the contest for the third Indian Grand Prix that would be held in Delhi from October 25 to 27, 2013. This would offer an opportunity for small and medium enterprises to take center stage with their logo on Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing cars. Vodafone says they had overwhelming response for the second season in which Sequel Logistics Private Limited won and had its logo on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes cars during Indian Grand Prix 2012. Vodafone India has partnered with Twitter India to offer access to Twitter for Android app and mobile.twitter.com free of any mobile charges for three months without any data pack. Twitter will promote the ‘no mobile internet charges’ experience on Vodafone by clearly prompting and informing the customer on the applicable charges, especially when they are accessing links via their Twitter timeline and elsewhere on Twitter’s network. Vodafone India has launched Innovative Design retail concept at its store in Mumbai. This is the first Innovative Design concept store in India, and is based on a Global Design Concept  in international markets like London. The store is located at its corporate office premises at Lower Parel, Mumbai. The Innovative Design retail concept is in line with Vodafone’s Retail of Tomorrow initiative to deliver unique and superior retail experience to its customers. Vodafone launches Campus Pack with talk time, SMS and Data in Delhi & NCR

Vodafone India has launched Campus Pack, 2 new bonus cards with low calling rates for STD calls. These packs also offer Free SMS, local Vodafone to Vodafone calling minutes, 1GB of Data. The Campus Pack offers two value-for-money deals and is aimed at youth. Vodafone says that they have launched this Campus Pack to reach out to college students this admission season in Delhi and NCR.

Vodafone introduces free incoming on roaming, plans start from Rs. 5

Vodafone India has launched new Special Tariff Vouchers (STV) for its pre-paid and post-paid customers that would let them enjoy free incoming while on national roaming. Airtel announced a similar roaming pack earlier this week and Idea Cellular launched national roaming packs few days back. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month that makes free roaming plans for all the operators compulsory. Vodafone India offers Rs. 4000 crore to retain 2G licenses in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata


Vodafone has offered to pay Rs. 4000 crore to the government to extend and continue its licenses in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, according to a recent report from PTI. Last month Vodafone announced that that they are taking all required actions, including legal against the Department of Telecom (DoT), regarding the 2G spectrum issue in these 3 metros. Indian Government allocates new spectrum to Vodafone in 14 circles


Indian Government has allocated 2G spectrum to Vodafone in all 14 service areas, according a recent report from PTI. Vodafone had won spectrum in 14 circles including Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, North East, Orissa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh East and West and  West Bengal back in November, 2012. Last year Supreme Court of India cancelled 122 2G licenses and the spectrum was freed up later. Last year’s 2G spectrum auction saw poor response which got bids worth just Rs. 9,407.64 crore, much lower than their target revenue of Rs. 40,000 crore. Vodafone cuts 2G data rates for Pay As You Go customers up to 80%


Vodafone India has announced that they have reduced the 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users up to 80%. The charges are down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB. This rate would be applicable for all pre-paid and post-paid customers using 2G network on a Pay as you Go basis, which would be affordable for those who use mobile internet in a limited way. Vodafone revised their 3G data plans last June that made additional usage charges after free data and The Pay As You Go (PAYG) rate for the customers customers as 2p/10KB on a 3G network. Karbonn has announced that they have tied up with Vodafone India to offer free data on purchase of the Karbonn Titanium S5 and the Smart A12. This would let the Karbonn Titanium S5 buyers enjoy 1GB of 3G or 3G Unlimited Internet Plan free for 3 Months on Vodafone. First time Vodafone 3G customers using Karbonn A12 would get 500 MB  of 3G and 2G Internet Plan free for 2 months.  The company partnered with Airtel earlier this year to offer similar data packs with select smartphones. Vodafone launches new international roaming pack, offers over 90% discount on data


Vodafone India has launched a new international roaming pack for its post-paid customers in India visiting countries like UK, USA, UAE, Singapore and Thailand. It offers over 90% discount on data and approximately 64% on outgoing local and international calls.  This pack is aimed at customers travelling overseas during this vacation season. The pack offers over 90% discount on data with rates as low as Rs.50/MB while roaming overseas. Outgoing local and international calls will be charged at Rs. 25/min and Rs.50/min respectively. Incoming calls will cost Rs. 50/min.
