
Vodafone, in a statement today has announced that they are taking all required actions, including legal against the Department of Telecom (DoT), regarding extension and continuity of its licenses in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, as per the provisions of policy and license and repeated assurances by DoT and Ministry in the past. Vodafone India launched the Superfan contest for their customers last month, that runs till May 20, 2013. Now the company has launched the Superfan Junior contest that would let 22 young boys and girls aged 6-12 years across India a chance to walk hand-in-hand on field with 22 of the world’s finest cricketing heroes competing at the Grand Finale of IPL 2013, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on 26th May 2013. Vodafone and ICICI Bank partner to launch M-Pesa mobile money transfer and payment service

Vodafone India has partnered with ICICI Bank to launch M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer and payment service. It offers a simple and secure way to transfer money and make payments with the security of financial transactions provided by ICICI Bank. Vodafone India through its subsidiary, Mobile Commerce Solutions Ltd. (MCSL) and ICICI Bank announced the M-Pesa back in November 2012. Airtel has got a temporary relief, and can continue their 3G intra-circle roaming till April 11th. A Supreme Court bench has asked telecoms department not to take any action on the Bharti Airtel on 3G roaming pact till Thursday, according to a report from The Economic Times. Last month DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. The Department of Telecom (DoT) have asked Vodafone India and Idea Cellular to stop 3G services outside their licensed zones in 3 days, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT has also asked these companies to pay Rs. 550 and Rs. 300 crore, respectively for violating licence norms. DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles last month and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Nokia launches Nokia Music Store operator billing on Vodafone in India

Nokia brought Nokia Store Operator billing on Vodafone and Airtel earlier this year, now the operator billing service is available for the Nokia Music Store on Vodafone. The operator billing is available for the Music Store on the Nokia Asha phones that would let the users renew their subscriptions via their Vodafone pre-paid or post-paid account and continue to download unlimited songs and albums from the Nokia Music Store. Nokia already offers subscription purchase via credit cards and vouchers, with this Nokia Music Store becomes the first independent music store in the country to offer integrated operator billing.
