After Kerala, Mumbai,  Tamil NaduAndhra Pradesh and Telangana, and West Bengal, Airtel has announced massive network expansion in Odisha as part of its network transformation initiative – Project Leap. During the FY 18-19, Airtel plans to roll out 4,400 new mobile sites taking the total number of sites to 15,600 along with an addition of more than 1,500 kilometers of optic fiber, taking the total footprint to 9,500 kms to enable high speed data transmission. Airtel to deploy 10000 new mobile sites, Massive MIMO pre-5G technology, 2000 kms of additional optic fiber in West Bengal

After Kerala, Mumbai,  Tamil NaduAndhra Pradesh and Telangana, Airtel has announced massive network expansion in West Bengal as part of its network transformation initiative – Project Leap. During the FY 18-19, Airtel plans to roll out 10,000 new mobile sites taking the total number of sites to 38,000 along with an addition of more than 2000 kilometers of optic fiber, taking the total footprint to 17,000 kms to enable high speed data transmission. Airtel appoints Ajay Chitkara as director and CEO of its B2B unit, combines domestic and global enterprise business

Bharti Airtel today announced that it has appointed Ajay Chitkara as Director and CEO of Airtel Business, and the company has integrated both domestic enterprise and global enterprise operations. Ajay will continue reporting to Gopal Vittal, who is the MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel. The company has also appointed Pankaj Miglani as CEO – Global Business. He will report to Ajay Chitkara. Previously he was Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Bharti Infratel and played a key role in the company’s IPO in 2012.

Airtel TV app for Android clocks 50 million downloads; free subscription for all customers extended till December 2018

Back in December last year Airtel updated its Airtel TV app that offers Live TV channels as well as Regional & International content. It also announced that the entire content catalogue of Airtel TV will be available for its users on a free subscription basis till June 2018. Today the company has announced that the Airtel TV Android app has crossed 50 million downloads with 40 million download in just 9 months, since it hit 10 million in August 2017. Airtel completes acquisition of Telenor India

Airtel today announced that it has completed the acquisition Telenor India, after a year of entering into an agreement to acquire Telenor India’s running operations in seven circles – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Assam, and transfer of all of Telenor India’s assets including spectrum, licenses and operations, including its employees and customer base of 44 million as well as outstanding spectrum payments and other operational contracts, including tower lease.
