After making its presence felt at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas this year, the Sony Xperia ZL, a full HD smartphone from Sony landed in various countries alongside its thinner brother, the Xperia Z. Running on Android 4.1.2 at launch, the device had a custom Xperia UI on top like usual, and now news comes our way that the Android 4.2.2 update for the Xperia ZL has started to roll out, starting today.

Idea Cellular has also reduced 2G data rates followed by Airtel and Vodafone. Idea Cellular has reduced 2G data rates by 90% across 8 circles. Earlier this week Vodafone announced the reduction of 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB, later Airtel announced the reduction of 2G data rates by 90% for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 now available in India for Rs. 30990

Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200) in India at a price tag of Rs. 31,490 along with the Mega 5.8 last month. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 went on pre-order from online retailers last week, the phone is now available from those retailers. The official Samsung eStore is still taking pre-orders for the device. It has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Google to open Android Nation Stores in India

Google would open their first Android Nation Store in New Delhi to promote and sell Android smartphones and tablets, according to a report from Economic Times. Google would partner with Spice Global to set up the stores in various Indian cities and the first store would open up in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk mall and the company is supposedly seeking a location the size of 1200 to 1500 square feet, the report says. It was announced last month and packs a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) LCD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Opinion – Why 3G Fair Usage Policy is Retarded

Interrupting my usual Internet binging over a daily 2 hour commute, was a message from my operator. The message said I had exhausted my 2 GB limit for high speed internet this month, and now will be forced to a ridiculously low speed of 64 kbps. Say what?! Yes, I understand the concept of a fair usage policy thank you very much, and hey, apparently, I can either go through with the reduced speeds or order an add-on pack for an additional 250 rupees for a GB of 3G data. How lovely!

Nokia 301 that was announced earlier this year at the MWC 2013 is now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. It has a 2.4-inch (320 x 240 pixels) display and runs on Series 40 OS. Vodafone cuts 2G data rates for Pay As You Go customers up to 80%

Vodafone India has announced that they have reduced the 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users up to 80%. The charges are down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB. This rate would be applicable for all pre-paid and post-paid customers using 2G network on a Pay as you Go basis, which would be affordable for those who use mobile internet in a limited way. Vodafone revised their 3G data plans last June that made additional usage charges after free data and The Pay As You Go (PAYG) rate for the customers customers as 2p/10KB on a 3G network.
