Interrupting my usual Internet binging over a daily 2 hour commute, was a message from my operator. The message said I had exhausted my 2 GB limit for high speed internet this month, and now will be forced to a ridiculously low speed of 64 kbps. Say what?! Yes, I understand the concept of a fair usage policy thank you very much, and hey, apparently, I can either go through with the reduced speeds or order an add-on pack for an additional 250 rupees for a GB of 3G data. How lovely!

TRAI: AIRTEL is the MOST CONGESTED Network

Do not get shocked to hear this!! Its obvious that the service provider growing with the fastest pace will definitely be congested. Though, there were confusion about the congestion among the 2 leading players, but its now confirmed via this official reports.

In its report, TRAI says, “Airtel has emerged as the most congested GSM network for the period of Oct-Dec."

So, I am just wondering, what are the guys at Airtel are doing to sort it out and get thing better?

Hutchison Essar rechristens as Vodafone Essar

Vodafone Essar will be the new name of the old Hutch venture in India. This move comes after Vodafone’s acquistion of HTIL.

Asim Ghosh, Hutchison Essar’s current chief executive, will be chairman and chief executive officer.

Arun Sarin will be the Vice Chairman.

Nokia and Telefonica Moviles have agreed to provide a complete GSM system deal to Telefonica Moviles Colombia which includes GSM radio access and MSC Server System (MSS), giving it the chance to broaden its service offering to its customers. The deal marks a new customer for Nokia.

Nokia is supplying Telef?nica M?viles subsidiary in Colombia with a new mobile softswitch: Nokia MSC Server System, compliant with the 3GPP release 4 standardization. Nokia is also supplying a country-wide GSM radio network, complemented by Nokia NetAct (TM) network service and management system, Operations Support System (OSS) and operations support for three months. The deal includes network planning, installation, optimization services and training. Deliveries have already begun.

Mr. Prakash Nanani, has taken over as the CEO, he confirmed the news of the exit of Distacom from the mobile service venture. The Honk Kong based Distacom, the foreign shareholder has sold its stake in the B.K.Modi promoted Spice Telecom, to Ashmore Investment Management Ltd., a financial investor and the Deutsche Bank Group.

Mr. Nanani also stated that Mr. Navin Kaul, former Chief Operating Officer, Punjab circle, has taken over as the Chief Operating Officer, Karnataka circle.
