Sony unveils the SmartWatch 2 for Android with one touch NFC

Smartwatches have always been a niche at best. Recently spurred into prominence by crowd funded hardware innovators like Pebble, amidst rumours of Apple being interested in a similar device, the smart watch is suddenly cool again, and Sony wants in on the market enthusiasm. While they pioneered a bluetooth watch since 2007, Sony has unveiled its latest iteration of the same – the Sony SmartWatch 2. Made for Android devices running on v4.0 ICS or later, the watch sports NFC one touch pairing and promises several utilitarian functionality to grace your wrist. Sony Xperia Z Ultra with 6.44-inch 1080p display, 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor announced

Sony has finally announced the Xperia Z Ultra, the company’s latest flagship phone in the Xperia range. It has a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine that would offer rich, natural colours, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It is just 6.5mm thick and weighs 212 grams. Sony Xperia Z Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update starts rolling out

Sony has finally started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Xperia Z soon after the roll out for the Xperia ZL. The version number for the update is 10.3.A.0.423 . The update is now available for Spain and the Ukraine for the LTE model (C6603) and for the carrier variants in Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and the Netherlands. Tweets from the official Sony Xperia hints at the successor of the Sony SmartWatch that is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile Asia Expo 2013 in Shanghai next week. Sony unveiled the first SmartWatch back in January 2012 with a 1.3” (128×128 pixels) OLED touch display that can wirelessly and discreetly access calls, messages and applications. After making its presence felt at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas this year, the Sony Xperia ZL, a full HD smartphone from Sony landed in various countries alongside its thinner brother, the Xperia Z. Running on Android 4.1.2 at launch, the device had a custom Xperia UI on top like usual, and now news comes our way that the Android 4.2.2 update for the Xperia ZL has started to roll out, starting today.

Sony i1 Honami Camera phone leaks in blurry image, rumored specs surface

Sony i1 (codenamed Honami), the company’s upcoming flagship camera phone has been in the news for quite some time.  This would be the first device in Sony’s new philosophy – One Sony strategy announced at the MWC 2012. Now a blurry image of the device has been revealed. Previous rumor revealed that the phone would feature a 1/1.6″ Exmor RS stacked sensor with Sony Cybershot G Lens, the new rumor says that it would feature a 2/3″ or 1/1.5″ sensor. The report also reveals that the phone would come with interchangeable lenses. It also reveals a 5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 processor and Android 4.2.2 with a new Xperia UI. The durable smartphones was announced last month and has IP55 and IP58 ratings for dust and water resistance. It has a 4.55-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It packs a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and offers underwater image and video capture since it is water resistant up to 1.50 meters for up to 30 minutes. Images of the rumored Sony Xperia Z Ultra or Sony Xperia ZU phablet has surfaced online. Taiwanese website ePrice has posted about the Sony Phablet. The report confirms the 6.4-inch 1080p Triluminos with X-Reality for Mobile display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and stylus support as teased by Sony in the press invite.

Sony Mobile announces an event in Paris on July 4th, teases a slim Xperia smartphone

Sony Mobile has started sending press invite in France for an event on July 4th. Last week the company had announced an event in Germany on June 25th. The translation reads “Sony Mobile reserves a big surprise for you” and “Do not forget to mark your calendars!” part is shown written using a stylus. Looks like it might come with a stylus. It also shows the side part of the device which is pretty sleek with a new power button similar to the latest Xperia devices, 3.5mm audio jack, volume rocker and a dedicated camera button. Sony Mobile has started sending invites for a press event in Germany on 25th. The German translation says “Looking for More?” “It is time for the next step. On Tuesday, the 25th June 2013 15:00 we take a first look at the future together.” “More details will follow soon.” We don’t anything more than that, so we can only speculate on what the company will unveil at the event. It might be the Togari with a 6.4-inch 1080p display, or the Honami the rumored Cyber-shot camera phone or a completely new device.
