Sony Xperia M that was announced back in June, is now available in India from online retailer Saholic. It has a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8227 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Sony’s Lens Camera leak shows off external lens attachment on a Xperia Honami
Sony has been known for its innovative attempts at consumer technology, but the leak you see above takes it to a whole new level. What you see, is a Sony Lens Camera. It’s a lens, and a camera, yet it doesn’t have a viewfinder like a normal camera. This is where the Xperia i1 Honami comes in, acting as a wireless viewfinder to the Sony Lens. This crazy contraption is actually inspired(?) from a critically acclaimed Wireless ViewFinder Interchangeble lens(WVIL) camera concept shown off by a company called Artefact, way back at CES 2011. Sony Media apps update now rolling out globally for select Xperia devices
Sony Mobile has announced that they have started to roll out an update to the Sony Media apps, WALKMAN, Album and Movies that brings lot of new features including integraded cloud services. Other features include, better playback, Clear Audio+ presents and social features for the WALKMAN app, Recall Playback and Favorites feature in the Album, option to resume playback from the paused location and a revamped UI for the Movies app.

Sony Xperia Honami new images and camera UI leaks out
Sony Xperia Honami is expected to be the company’s next flagship model and the distinguishing feature on this device is expected to be its 20MP camera. A live picture of the Honami’s camera UI has leaked on the internet along with fresh images of the device. Rumors of the 20-megapixel camera phone surfaced back in April. Sony Xperia Z Ultra gets its first software update
Sony Mobile has started rolling out the first firmware update v14.1.B.0.471 for the recently launched Xperia Z Ultra (C6802). The stock firmware is 14.1.B.0.461, so this might be a minor change. The baseband version and the kernel version has a minor change. The new firmware has a build date of July 19th. There is no changelog so this might be a an update to fix some bugs and improve the performance of the device. We did not notice any changes or any new apps on the device after the update. Sony’s Q1 FY13 results out, mobile sales increase by 36% YoY
Looks like Sony is back in the game, especially in mobile! The Japanese company has just reported its first quarter FY 2013 results and has beaten expectations set by analysts. The increased performance is due to, you guessed right, its mobile division. While it posted huge operating losses last year, the division has gained 36% YoY, posting an operating income of 60 million USD. The company’s overall net profits stand at a small 35 million USD, which is not huge by any means, but posting profits after struggling for the past year should be encouraging for the consumer electronics giant.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Benchmarks

Sony launched the Xperia Z Ultra, their latest flagship Android phone with a 6.44-inch 1080p display and a Snapdragon 800 processor in India earlier this week. We brought you the unboxing of the device recently. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. As you can see on the image above CPU-Z says that it is clocked at 2.15 GHz. We brought you the benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800 few months back on a reference smartphone. Benchmarks of the Xperia Z Ultra is almost similar to the test device. This one is under clocked a bit from the original chip that is clocked at 2.3 GHz.

Sony launched its big ass new smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra in India though it won’t be available in retail till 2nd August. We’ve previously done a hands on with the handset that borders on being a tablet and here are some additional images of the 6.4″ behemoth. Our initial impressions are quite positive and if you can look past the size, the Xperia Z Ultra is definitely a very impressive device. Sony’s new Triluminous Display with with X-Reality engine works wonders and is a much needed improvement over the dim and not very impressive screen on the Xperia Z. The 6.4″ panel has a resolution of 1920×1080. Additionally, there are no capacitive buttons here and users can navigate the interface through the onscreen buttons. Sony confirms Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for range of 2013 Xperia devices
Sony Mobile would be one of the first companies to announce the upcoming Android updates for their devices. It started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update for the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL starting last month. Now it has confirmed that the Xperia ZR and the Xperia Tablet Z would start receiving Android 4.2 from early August. Sony Mobile India has started their big Xperia Xchange offer assured Rs. 5000 discount on the Xperia Z or ZL in exchange your old smartphones. Samsung launched a similar Smart upgrade offer for the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S4. Sony launched the Xperia Z and the ZL in India earlier this year. Both these phones have a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Xperia Z comes with IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance and the Xperia ZL lacks the feature. Sony Xperia Honami specifications leak out, reportedly sport the Bionz image processor
Nokia’s PureView, HTC’s UltraPixel, Samsung’s Galaxy Zoom has left Sony, LG, Apple to reconsider their smartphone cameras. The battle for the supreme smartphone camera is really heating up with LG, Apple and Sony yet to step into that territory. Sony’s next flagship has shown up in leaked images and those images suggest that Sony’s bet into smartphone camera will be this Xperia “Honami” device. We had already seen the renders and even some images of the actual device, but its specifications have now leaked out, so read on to find out what the Honami packs.
Sony IFA 2013 press conference slated for September 4th, Xperia i1 Honami incoming?
Sony has started sending out press invites for their press conference at IFA 2013 scheduled for 4th September. It doesn’t leave any hint unlike the Germany or Paris invites where they showed off the Xperia Z Ultra which was unveiled at the Shanghai event ahead of these.
