Sony launched the Xperia Z Ultra, their latest flagship Android phone with a 6.44-inch 1080p display and a Snapdragon 800 processor in India earlier this week. We brought you the unboxing of the device recently. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. As you can see on the image above CPU-Z says that it is clocked at 2.15 GHz. We brought you the benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800 few months back on a reference smartphone. Benchmarks of the Xperia Z Ultra is almost similar to the test device. This one is under clocked a bit from the original chip that is clocked at 2.3 GHz.

Sony launched its big ass new smartphone, the Xperia Z Ultra in India though it won’t be available in retail till 2nd August. We’ve previously done a hands on with the handset that borders on being a tablet and here are some additional images of the 6.4″ behemoth. Our initial impressions are quite positive and if you can look past the size, the Xperia Z Ultra is definitely a very impressive device. Sony’s new Triluminous Display with with X-Reality engine works wonders and is a much needed improvement over the dim and not very impressive screen on the Xperia Z. The 6.4″ panel has a resolution of 1920×1080. Sony has officially launched the Xperia Z Ultra, the company’s latest smartphones in the Xperia series. Sony unveiled the Z Ultra last month and it went on sale in India online last week. The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Sony confirms Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for range of 2013 Xperia devices

Sony Mobile would be one of the first companies to announce the upcoming Android updates for their devices. It started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update for the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL starting last month. Now it has confirmed that the Xperia ZR and the Xperia Tablet Z would start receiving Android 4.2 from early August. Sony unveiled the Xperia Z Ultra, the company’s latest flagship phone last month. Now the phone is available in India from online retailer Saholic. The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has IP55 / IP58 rating for dust and water resistance and has pen input. Sony offers Rs. 5000 discount on Xperia Z or ZL in exchange for old smartphones

Sony Mobile India has started their big Xperia Xchange offer assured Rs. 5000 discount on the Xperia Z or ZL in  exchange your old smartphones. Samsung launched a similar Smart upgrade offer for the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S4. Sony launched the Xperia Z and the ZL in India earlier this year. Both these phones have a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Xperia Z comes with  IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance and the Xperia ZL lacks the feature. Sony Xperia Honami specifications leak out, reportedly sport the Bionz image processor

Nokia’s PureView, HTC’s UltraPixel, Samsung’s Galaxy Zoom has left Sony, LG, Apple to reconsider their smartphone cameras. The battle for the supreme smartphone camera is really heating up with LG, Apple and Sony yet to step into that territory. Sony’s next flagship has shown up in leaked images and those images suggest that Sony’s bet into smartphone camera will be this Xperia “Honami” device. We had already seen the renders and even some images of the actual device, but its specifications have now leaked out, so read on to find out what the Honami packs.

Sony IFA 2013 press conference slated for September 4th, Xperia i1 Honami incoming?

Sony has started sending out press invites for their press conference at  IFA 2013 scheduled for 4th September. It doesn’t leave any hint unlike the Germany or Paris invites where they showed off the Xperia Z Ultra which was unveiled at the Shanghai event ahead of these. Sony Xperia i1 Honami was expected to be announced at one of those events, but we did not see it. Sony Mobile rolls out my Xperia remote security service globally

Sony has announced that they have started rolling out free remote security service called my Xperia for Xperia devices globally. Sony rolled it out starting from Nordic countries back in January 2013. Now after several months of beta testing and tweaks, the app has been graduated to stable version. This would let the Xperia users find the device remotely when it is lost, protect private information by locking the device or delete all the information on the device. Sony Xperia i1 Honami renders surface, packs 20MP camera with 4K video recording

Images of the Sony Xperia i1 surfaced last week, now the press renders of the phone has surfaced online. Xperiablog.net got hold of these images that looks similar to the previous leaks. The new images reveals a aluminium frame and a dedicated camera button on the right side. The previous leak showed the rear part of the phone but it did not have a Xenon flash. The phone’s rear part is not revealed in these renders so it is not clear whether the final device would have a Xenon flash.

The first blurry image of the Xperia i1 codenamed ‘Honami’ surfaced earlier this month along with the rumored specs, now a clear image of the device has surfaced on a Brazilian website Techtudo. It confirms that the phone would have a 20-megapixel rear camera but it would not come with interchangeable lenses as rumored. The top image shows the Xperia i1 in the center with the Xperia Z Ultra and the Xperia ZQ (Brazilian variant of the Xperia ZL). With the announcement of the Xperia Z Ultra, Sony showed they definitely mean business. The Xperia Z Ultra is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, although the new Galaxy S4 LTE-A also uses Qualcomm’s latest chipset. Clocked at 2.2GHz, the processor promises fantastic performance as you can see in our Snapdragon 800 benchmarking.

Sony Mobile has also announced the Xperia C, a mid-range device in the Xperia series. It has a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, Exmor R sensor and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It is capable of recording 1080p HD videos. Sony unveils the SmartWatch 2 for Android with one touch NFC

Smartwatches have always been a niche at best. Recently spurred into prominence by crowd funded hardware innovators like Pebble, amidst rumours of Apple being interested in a similar device, the smart watch is suddenly cool again, and Sony wants in on the market enthusiasm. While they pioneered a bluetooth watch since 2007, Sony has unveiled its latest iteration of the same – the Sony SmartWatch 2. Made for Android devices running on v4.0 ICS or later, the watch sports NFC one touch pairing and promises several utilitarian functionality to grace your wrist.
