Sony asks consumers to stop using Vaio Fit 11A computers, says it could catch fire

Sony announced the Vaio Fit 11A tablet computer during January earlier this year and the product went on sale during February. However, in the past weeks, Sony had received three complaints from consumers reporting burnt parts in the Vaio Fit 11A. As a result, Sony has said that there was risk that the batteries of these products, which are made by Panasonic, could overheat and catch fire.

The Sony Xperia E1 Dual is the Japanese company’s improvisation of its long time low end play. The Xperia Tipo Dual and the earlier Xperia E used to occupy this segment, and keeping up with the times, the E1 dual will now occupy the place of a low end smartphone from Sony. Sony Xperia Z2 retail availability delayed in UK until May due to high demand

There have been rumors that Sony Xperia Z2 has been globally delayed due to a component shortage. Clove UK and other online retailers have confirmed that the SIM-free variant would not launch in UK until May. The Xperia Z2 Tablet went on sale in UK earlier this month and the Xperia Z2 smartphone was expected to go on sale in UK in early April for 599 GBP. Sony says no to Android Wear for now, will stick to its custom OS

Sony was one among the first of the electronics giant to jump into the smart watch category and it has so far launched a couple of smart watches. Until now, both the products haven’t really made it to the larger crowd. Sony SmartWatch does not use Android as its OS, but works with Android smartphones.

Sony has been doing a lot of things right recently. They launched their latest flagship, the Xperia Z2 at the Mobile World Congress, which really impressed us, and then there was the Xperia Z1 Compact earlier, which is easily the best “mini” device out there. But Sony is not about flagships alone, as they have a whole portfolio to care about, that cover a wide range prices. On that note, we have here, the Sony Xperia E1 Dual, which is the company’s entry level model that competes with the various Micromax and Karbonn devices of our market, let alone Samsung or Nokia. Sony has been making devices in this segment for a long time, and the last popular one in this range was the Xperia Tipo Dual. Consider the E1 Dual as a spiritual successor of the Tipo. Sony launched the Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 dual in India earlier this month. The Xperia E1 dual went on sale in India at a price tag of Rs. 9,400, now the Xperia E1 is now available from online retailer Infibeam for Rs. 8,980. It has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Sony starts rolling out Android 4.4 update for Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact

Sony has started rolling out the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and the Z1 compact. It started rolling out the Android 4.3 update for the Z Ultra and the Z1 back in December last year, and the Z1 Compact was launched running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). The Sony Xperia Z2 that was unveiled last month runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box. The KitKat update brings performance tweaks, lot of under the hood improvements, new skin and new features. These smartphones were announced back in January and packs a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). These have a 3-megapixel rear camera and offer 100dB loud audio output through rear speakers. These have Walkman key, shake to shuffle and hardware controls for easy music control. Sony Socialife News app now available to all Android smartphones

Sony Socialife or Sony’s news app that comes per-loaded on Xperia smartphones, is not exclusive to Xperia smartphones anymore. The Japanese manufacturer has released the app on Google Play for all Android smartphones running on Android 4.1 or later. The app crossed 10 million downloads recently, which now has over 13 million downloads, says the company. Looks like it is still exclusive to Sony Xperia tablets.
