Qualcomm at its MWC event announced the Snapdragon X70 5G 4m Modem-RF System, its fifth-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution, and the successor to last year’s Snapdragon X65 modem. MWC 2022 is underway and Qualcomm has announced two new additions to their wireless audio platforms, namely their S5 Sound Platform (QCC517x) and S3 Sound Platform (QCC307x). They feature support for Snapdragon Sound technology, Multipoint Bluetooth wireless connectivity, 3rd Gen Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, and more.
According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, the global smartphone AP (Application Processor)/SoC (System on Chip) witnessed a growth of 5% YoY during 2021. 5G-capable SoCs accounted for half of total shipments, and the market was led by MediaTek, Qualcomm and Apple.
Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon Wear 4100 based on new ultra-low power hybrid architecture in 2020. Now the company is said to be working on the successors – Snapdragon Wear 5100 and 5100+. Qualcomm introduced its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile platform at its Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 last week. The latest flagship SoC has a Kryo Prime Arm Cortex-X2-based CPU at up to 3.0GHz, 3 x Kryo Performance A710-based CPUs at up to 2.50GHz and 4x Kryo Efficiency A510-based CPUs at up to 1.8GHz.
