Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 could get ultra-high frequency version clocked up to 3.5GHz

Qualcomm should introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 at the Snapdragon Tech Summit in November. There will be an ultra-high frequency version of the chip with CPU clock speed of 3.4-3.5GHz range next year, according to leaker Digital Chat Station. To remind you, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 that was introduced recently has a clock speed of up to 3.2GHz.

The GPU will also see a considerable improvement, compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The extreme GPU performance in Android flagships will finally reach the performance of Apple A series chips with the powerful GPU, said the leaker.

He added that this year’s MediaTek’s Dimensity series will offer CPU improvements that will further close the gap between Dimensity and Snapdragon.

Earlier rumours revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will use 1+2+2+3 four-cluster architecture, compared to 1+3+4 tri-cluster architecture. It is said to stick with TSMC’s 4nm process tech. The chip could use 1 x Kryo Prime CPU (Arm Cortex-X3-based), 2 x Kryo Performance CPUs (A720-based), 2 x Kryo Performance CPUs (A710-based) and 3x Kryo Efficiency CPUs (A510-based). We can expect Adreno 740 GPU.

Based on earlier rumours, Xiaomi Mi 13 series, Redmi K60 series, iQOO 11 series, vivo X90 series, and more will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
