Microsoft to partner with Foxconn to manufacture smartphones in India

Microsoft could enter into a deal with Foxconn to manufacture phones in India, as per the Economic Times. The Taiwanese contract manufacturer will start manufacturing smartphones locally for Microsoft in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

Microsoft merges OneNote app for iPhone and iPad, updates Android app

Microsoft has combined both iPhone and iPad apps into one universal app. Now there will be just one OneNote app for all iOS devices and iPad users will be prompted to re-download the app the next time they launch it.

Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard goes on sale in the US for $99.95

Microsoft introduced a Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona back in March. Today the company has announced that it is now available at the Microsoft Store and various other retailers in the US for $99.95. The universal keyboard has a sleek design and connects to Windows (8,8.1, 10), Windows Phone 8.1, iOS 7 or later and Android 4.3 or later using Bluetooth 4.0. You can switch between OS’s just by pressing the “OS” key.

Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL to feature polycarbonate bodies – Pricing higher than iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6

The Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL rumours are slowly gaining traction. the last rumour was a leak that confirmed the existence of a Quad HD Windows phone which is most likely the 940 XL and a smaller 1080p smartphone which should be the 940. A new report now suggests that both the 940 XL as well as the 940 will sport polycarbonate bodies and will be priced higher than the Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6.

Microsoft today announced that 7,800 people from its phone division will be getting the pink slip. This follows the 18,000 layoffs over the past year that affected the workforce adopted via Nokia. While shocking for sure, it isn’t particularly surprising given the departure of Stephen Elop, Jo Harlow that signaled the diminishing importance of Windows Phone within the company.
