BlackBerry maker RIM gets a new CEO Thorsten Heins

BlackBerry maker RIM has appointed Thorsten Heins as it’s new CEO. RIM has been facing stiff competition from iPhone and Android devices and lost a lot of market share in the US. The company has been drawing a lot of criticism from investors who have been demanding a management overhaul for several months now as the shares of the company have trading at lower levels. With the appointment of the new CEO, the current c0-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Basillie are stepping down from their posts as co-CEOs but will still be part of the company’s board .Despite losing market share and facing plenty of competition BlackBerry devices are still unbeatable when in comes to handling Email. But that comes with a price tag as BlackBerry devices need to be used with a special plan.BlackBerry OS 7 devices were launched last year and BlackBerry 10 devices which pack QNX are expected to be launched this year.

Earlier these plans were available on postpaid.There is a BlackBerry BIS Lite plan which offers unlimited email and BBM for Rs.251 per month. BlackBerry Bold 9790 is now on sale in UK. It was expected to be available at the end of this week but it is now available earlier says Clove, online retailer in UK. The Bold 9790 comes with 2.4-inch (480 x 360 pixels) capacitive touch screen display with 246 dpi and a Full QWERTY keyboard. It is powered by 1 GHz processor and runs on the latest BlackBerry OS7. BlackBerry Torch 9810 Review


Here is the FoneArena review of the BlackBerry Torch 2 9810. This is the successor of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 that was launched last year. The BlackBerry Torch 2 was launched in India this August. Both the Torch and torch 2 has similar design including the dimensions, but there are improvements in the display resolution and hardware. It has 8 GB onboard memory that is expandable up to 32GB with MicroSD and 768 MB RAM which is better than the Torch. It is 14.6 mm thick and weighs  161 g. RIM is showing a preview of the OS 2.0 software for the BlackBerry PlayBook at CES 2012 this week.Native email might finally arrive on the tablet. The best part is the ability to remote control the Playbook using a BlackBerry handset. Vodafone to provide free service for BlackBerry handsets in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh

Vodafone, in association with Research In Motion (RIM) is organizing a service camp at select Vodafone Stores in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This is available for all BlackBerry Smartphone users irrespective of their service providers and is available for free of cost. They organized similar service camps in Karnataka last year. RIM might show off BlackBerry OS 10 at MWC 2012

 

Research In Motion (RIM) might show off their new BlackBerry OS 10 (BBX) at MWC 2012 in February according to a report from pocket-lint. They announced the BBX, their next generation mobile platform at the Developer Conference this October and later changed it to BlackBerry OS 10 at Developer Conference Asia in December  due to a ruling by a US  District Judge which prevents RIM from using the BBX brand. There were lots of rumors about the BlackBerry OS 10 devices such as BlackBerry London. They were also news that these devices might come with high resolution display, BES and better specs similar to the BlackBerry PlayBook and not look like the BlackBerry Bold.
