Apple has canceled additional production of iPhone XR owing to poor reception: Report

Apple, owing to the disappointing demand for the new iPhone XR, said to have halted additional production of the smartphone. Apple said to introduce first 5G iPhone with Intel 5G modem in 2020

According to to a latest report, Apple’s first 5G iPhone said to hit the market in 2020. The company is planning on using Intel’s 8161 5G modem chip in its 2020 phones. Intel will be the sole provider of iPhone modems. Intel is also said to be working on 8060 modems which will be used for prototyping and testing the 5G iPhone.

Worldwide tablet shipments declined 8.6% in Q3 2018, Apple and Samsung continue to lead: IDC

According to IDC, the worldwide tablet market declined 8.6% during the Q3 2018. The global shipments fell to 36.4 million and the slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market with 31.6 million units, down 7.9% from the previous year. Detachable tablets also declined, down 13.1% from the previous year, and accounted for 4.8 million unit shipments. Apple reports $14.1 billion profit on $62.9 billion revenue in FY Q4 2018, will stop reporting iPhone, iPad and Mac unit sales

Apple has reported quarterly revenue of $62.9 billion, up 20% over last year with a net profit of $14.1 billion, up 32% YoY or earnings per share of $2.91, an increase of 41% over last year in their earnings for the financial year Q4 2018 that ended September 29, 2018. During earnings call Tim Cook said that the company produced record results from iPhone, services, and wearables that drove our momentum and it produced strong double-digit revenue growth in all of the geographic segments. Global smartphone shipments down 6% in Q3 2018, Samsung leads with 72.2 million, Huawei posts 32.9% YoY growth

According to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, smartphone vendors shipped a total of 355.2 million units during the Q3 2018; this is a 6% decline year-over-year.  This was the fourth consecutive quarter of year-over-year declines for the global smartphone market. Apple just announced new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models at its New York event. These have all-screen design with Liquid Retina True Tone displays with refresh rate up to 120Hz and integrates Face ID replacing the home button and Touch ID. These have new A12X Bionic 7nm chip with next-generation Neural Engine, seven-core, Apple-designed GPU. The second-generation Apple Pencil magnetically attaches to iPad Pro and wirelessly charges at the same time. “A new touch sensor built onto Apple Pencil detects taps, introducing an entirely new way to interact within apps,” said Apple.

Apple Mac Mini refresh with up to 6-core Intel Core i5 processor, T2 Security Chip, more RAM and storage announced starting at $799

Apple has refreshed the Mac Mini with an aim to increase in performance. It now comes with Quad-Core and 6-core processors, up to 64GB of faster memory. The company promises up to five times faster performance and features with Thunderbolt 3 ports.
