IDC : Mobile Market in Western Europe Q2 2011 – Samsung, Apple, HTC top Smartphone vendors by shipments


According to recent report by research firm IDC (International Data Corporation), the Smartphone sales in Western Europe is more than the feature phone sales in Q2 2011. The feature phone shipments were down at 29% to 20.4 million units in 2Q11, while smartphone shipments increased 48% to 21.8 million units compared to Q2 2010. In surprising turn of events, HTC has sued Apple this time

Apple has been suing HTC from a long time for infringing various patents, just recently we had heard Apple telling that the whole idea of Android was taken from Apple because Andy Rubin who is the godfather of Android used to work for Apple some 20 years back, but this was not used in the case as Andy Rubin does not really work for HTC. Now HTC has had it enough and with the help of Google are trying to sue Apple.

Sprint confirms iPhone 5 launch window , to offer unlimited data options

An internal employee memo from senior management at Sprint has just leaked out. It marks off the first two weeks of October as period for a major launch during which no employee can take a leave. The memo all but confirms the launch period for the next generation iPhone.

Lowe’s invests in 42,000 iPhones for improved shopping experience

US based home improvement chain , Lowe’s , plans to distribute close to 42,000 iPhones between its employees to improve the in store shopping experience for customers. The iPhones will allow employees to perform on-the-go product lookups, check stock, and pull up instructional videos for customers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 gets banned in Germany

Apple has been behind companies manufacturing Android devices from a long time, they have sued every manufacturer having Android devices in their portfolio. Just last month Apple had filed an Injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which was valid only in Germany, today the Dusseldorf court has said that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 does infringe some of Apple’s patents.

Apple iPhone 5 hitting BestBuy next month, Sprint also carrying it

Launch of the next Apple flagship smartphone is around the corner which will be known as iPhone 5. Well, there’s a little confusion that Apple will be launching two new smartphones sooner or later, one will be known as the iPhone 5 and the other one will be iPhone 4S. We recently heard that Apple is working on a 8GB version of iPhone 4 and it could be the low-end iPhone we are hearing about, also there will be some changes in it like there will be plastic on front and backside instead of glass, anyway let’s wait for Apple to clear the air. iPhone 5 to be GSM + CDMA world phone ?

Unwired View reports that the next generation iPhone might be packing in dual mode GSM + CDMA capabilities. App usage logs for a high profile iOS developer indicate two different sets of MCC (Mobile Country Code) and MNC (Mobile Network Code) codes from the same device. The codes correspond to AT&T and Verizon.

iPhone 5 Spotted In Spy Shot ?

A forum poster over at MacRumors has just posted an image of what appears to be the upcoming iPhone 5. The device appears to have returned to the curved design paradigm of the previous generations. The phone looks extremely thin and appears to coincide with the rumors that the device will clock in at just 7mm thickness.

According to a recent report by the Financial Post, Apple has more cash than the U.S government. Apple reported the quarterly earnings of US$ 75.876 billion till the 25th of June 2011 .
