Samsung has finally announced their next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4 at an event in New York. It packs a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display at 441ppi, powered by a 1.9 GHz Quad-Core Processor / 1.6 GHz Octa-Core Processor (depending on the markets) and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, Full HD video recording and a 2MP front-facing camera. It has unique features including Smart Pause , Smart Scroll, S Translator, S Travel (Trip Advisor), S Voice Drive, S Health and lots more. It also has dual camera (Dual Shot / Dual Recording/ Dual Video Call).

The Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in Black Mist and White Frost colors. It would be available from 327 mobile operators in 55 countries starting from the end of April. No word on pricing yet.

This is the third device in the Xolo range powered by an Intel processor. Xolo launched the X900, the company’s first phone powered by an Intel Medfield Z2460 processor in India in May 2012. Xolo has launched the Xolo X1000, the company’s latest Intel Atom-powered Android Smartphone. It comes with a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen display at 312 ppi, powered by 2 GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor with a 400 MHz PowerVR SGX540 GPU and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).  It comes with a 8 MP rear camera with LED Flash, 1080p video recording and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera. It also has Full HD video playback. It doesn’t come with the Intel Atom Clover Trail+ processor as we guessed last week. This is the same processor present in the Motorola Razr i that we reviewed earlier this year. Xolo X1000 specs detailed, 4.7 inch 720p curved screen with a 2 GHz Intel Medfield processor

We are just minutes away from the Xolo X1000 launch in Goa, where we are live blogging the event, but looks like somebody jumped the gun and outed the X1000 in its full glory on the company’s website. It has now been revealed that the device will sport a 2 GHz Intel Medfield Z2480 system on a chip instead of the rumoured Clovertrail chip. Xolo claims this is the fastest phone, but since we have already seen phones(like the Motorola Razr i) sporting the Z2480 chip, we beg to differ.

Android chief Andy Rubin steps down, to be succeeded by Chrome boss Sundar Pichai

Andy Rubin, the main man behind Android even before it got acquired by Google, has decided to step down from the role as the head of Android to pursue other opportunities inside Google, as the official blog from Larry Page, the CEO of Google details. Andy will be succeeded by Sundar Pichai, who is currently heading the Chrome division, consisting of the browser, OS, apps and more recently the Chromebook Pixel. Does this mean Android and Chrome might finally merge one fine day?

LG Optimus G Pro to get Smart Video feature with eye recognition to control video playback


LG has announced that the Optimus G Pro would get new features in a new Value Pack upgrade including Smart Video and Smart Camera features. Smart Video recognizes the position of the viewer’s eyes and automatically plays or stops the video when the viewer’s eyes are no longer focused on the smartphone display. LG unveiled the Optimus G Pro last month, that went on sale in Korea at the end of last month. Nexus-like Motorola prototype leaks out in pictures and video

Motorola has been dormant since the great Google acquisition with only a couple of device launches, namely the Razr i and the Razr/Razr MAXX HD. But with this new detailed leak, few of the remaining fans might be happy to see that the company is working on a new portfolio, which might be influenced by Google design. Known for its earlier high profile leaks, the Vietnamese site Tinhte.vn has leaked a confidential prototype Motorola device that pretty much resembles the Nexus 4 on its front. This mysterious device might just be a prototype, but we would really like to see it get iterated into a real product from Motorola, mainly because it is part of Google, now, and we might actually get to see the Google influences on the devices. Samsung Galaxy Y Plus has surfaced on the official Samsung India website. Samsung announced the Galaxy Pocket in March last year, that launched in India in April. Details of the Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus (GT-S5301) surfaced earlier this year, but Samsung did not announce it officially. The Samsung Galaxy Y Plus (GT-S5303) looks like a Dual SIM version of the leaked Galaxy Pocket Plus for India. HTC One Developer Edition with unlocked Bootloader announced for US at $649

HTC has announced the HTC One Developer Edition for the US that would come with a SIM and bootloader unlocked. The HTC One was announced last month and packs a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with the new HTC Sense UI and HTC BlinkFeed. It also has an UltraPixel rear camera with LED Flash, BSI Sensor, Full HD (1080p) video recording with HDR Video and a 2 MP HD front-facing camera.

Sony Xperia J Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update starts rolling out

Sony Mobile has started rolling out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update  (v 11.2.A.0.21) for the Xperia J, as they promised. Sony Xperia T and Xperia V got the Jelly Bean update last month. Sony confirmed Jelly Bean update for range of 2012 Xperia devices back in October. Sony Xperia P and Xperia go would be the next devices that would get the Android 4.1 update according to their schedule.
