Xiaomi the famous Chinese phone maker had announced its plans to enter the tablet market with the Mi Pad back in May and looks like the tablet has gone on sale recently. A post on the official company forum says that Xiaomi sold 50000 units of the MiPad tablet on launch day thereby running out of stocks. Continue reading for some more breathtaking news. The 50,000 MiPads were sold out in just 3 minutes and 59 seconds. There is no mention about the location but we place our bets on China as it is the home market for handset maker which is now headed my Ex-Googler Hugo Barra. Priced aggressively at about 240 USD / Rs.14400 for the base 16GB version , the company is clearly taking on the Apple iPad Mini with its first tablet.

Xiaomi sells 26.1 million smartphones in first half of 2014

Xiaomi today announced that it has sold 26.11 million smartphones in the first half of 2014. This is a 271% increase compared to its sales last year. In the year 2012 the company shipped 7.19 million units, and in 2013 it shipped 18.7 million units, so it has already exceeded the combined sales of both 2012 and 2013 within the first half of 2014.

Xiaomi is all set to enter India really soon, with a portfolio of devices to be sold using the online-only business model, but in anticipation, we had already gotten the Mi3, the company’s flagship device. Selling for a low price, the Xiaomi Mi3 hopes to offer what every other flagship offers, but at a fraction of the price, much like the recently launched One Plus One. The Mi3 has a nice minimalistic design and solid build, but also packs powerful internals including a Snapdragon 800 processor that drives a 5″ 1080p display and also powers the camera experience on the device. Xiaomi reportedly partners with Flipkart to launch two smartphones in India in July

Xiaomi would partner with online retailer Flipkart to launch its smartphones in India, according to a report from BGR India. The company is selling its smartphones in other countries through its own online stores. Motorola tied up with Flipkart to sell the Moto G and Moto E in India. Flipkart imported the Motorola devices, but Xiaomi will import the smartphones and Flipkart would sell them, according to the report. Xiaomi India website goes live ahead of launch

Popular Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi is expected to make its debut in India very soon. Ahead of the launch, its website has gone live that proves to be rather short on details but does help create a bit of buzz around the launch. Xiaomi is also making its presence felt via their official Facebook page.

The launch of the website and the company’s India specific social properties makes us believe that Xiaomi devices might go on sale sooner than the Diwali time frame that has been hinted at previously. Xiaomi confirms Indian entry along with 9 other countries

Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacturer known for its unique business model of selling its devices directly, announced its global expansion plans, starting with the hire of Hugo Barra, an Android executive from Google. Months after he joined, Xiaomi started its operations in Singapore, and ever since, we have been expecting more countries to be added to the list. Very recently, Xiaomi’s CEO Lin Bin and Hugo Barra visited Google’s MD in India, signaling a trigger of its operations here. And the company just announced it on Twitter, along with 10 other countries, where it will launch next.

Ever since Xiaomi, the popular smartphone manufacturer from China, laid out plans for expansion to Singapore, we knew that India was coming. As a confirmation to this, we have a Cnet interview of Hugo Barra talking about the company’s impending entry into the burgeoning Indian smartphone market and a tweet from the head of Google India, who had a meeting with Xiaomi’s Lin Bin and Hugo Barra as a part of the ongoing initiative. Xiaomi recently launched in Singapore, its first market outside China, and looks to expand rapidly to become a true global player.

Xiaomi introduces portable WiFi router, to ship in a range of colors

The Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, just announced a new portable WiFi router product. Called the MI Portable WiFi, it will be available starting January 2014. There’s not much in the name of specifications as the company has only shown it off on Twitter. Xiaomi will be retailing the product in a range of six colors and there’s no word on pricing. Xiaomi plans to expand beyond China – Singapore first, hopefully India next?

Xiaomi, the company that was recently in the news for insane flash sales and earlier, for the hire of Android VP Hugo Barra, has laid out plans to expand beyond China. Singapore is one of the first markets in which Xiaomi is targeting for its full fledged operations, as a part of its expansion to South East Asia. Hugo Barra was appointed as the company’s VP of global operations and it seems like his work is now in full swing. Xiaomi’s top executives were recently in Taiwan for a fan gathering, addressing their huge fan base with quizzes, oversized T-Shirts and even a performance from Hugo Barra, who sang and danced to a popular Taiwanese song!

Xiaomi sells 380,000 devices in a few hours on Singles day in China

Xiaomi, the company that has recently been in the spotlight for a wide variety of reasons, has just sold 380,000 devices in just a few hours on Singles day in China. A quick TIL fact – Singles day in China is a massive day for shopping, like, for example Diwali in India or Thanksgiving, in the US. It has been reported that this day is perhaps better(in terms of sales) than the Cyber Monday that the US observes. The day, also known as the “Anti-Valentines” day, majorly consisting of singles from all around China having parties and such, spurs shopping of around 2 billion US dollars all over the country, and Xiaomi seems to have nicely stocked up for the demand, as you can see from the image above, taken by the International Chief and previously VP of Android, Hugo Barra.

Xiaomi introduces Hongmi smartphone with 4.7″ screen, Quad Core processor priced at $130

Popular China based smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, has today launched a brand new budget smartphone called Hongmi which translates to Red Rice. The phone brings relatively high end specifications including a quad core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Next-gen Xiaomi Phone spotted undergoing certification

Last year’s Xiaomi phone created a splash in the media due to the great combination of low price point and high end specs. Looks like the Chinese manufacturer is about to repeat its success with the next generation version. Images and specs revealed during the certification at TENAA suggest that the device going under the code name ‘2012051’ will pack a CDMA radio.
