Xiaomi under its Redmi brand launched its Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones in India last week starting at Rs. 9999 and Rs. 14999, respectively. These phones went on sale for the first time yesterday, October 21st, and were sold out in minutes. Xiaomi said that 1.5 million or 15 lakh people had shown interest to buy the phone, but it did not reveal the number of units sold. It has a 6.39-inch Full HD+ LCD screen with 90% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Snapdragon 665 11nm Mobile Platform with up to 6GB RAM, features a 48-megapixel main camera with 4-in-1 pixel binning for low-light shots, 8-megapixel 120° ultra-wide angle lens, 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor for 2cm macro shots. This is the successor of the most popular Redmi Note 7 that was first introduced in China back in January, and is one of the first in the price range to offer 48MP Quad camera setup. Xiaomi’s Redmi brand is all set to introduce the Redmi Note 8 series on August 29th. After confirming details about the Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone, Xiaomi’s Redmi brand has confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 will also pack quad rear cameras. It will pack a 48-megapixel main camera along with an ultra wide-angle lens, depth of field lens and a super macro lens, everything arranged vertically. The image also shows dual LED flash next to the camera.
After teasers Xiaomi’s Redmi brand just confirmed that it will introduce the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones at an event in China along with the Redmi TV on August 29th. The image confirms 64-megapixel camera with quad camera setup for the Redmi Note 8 Pro. There is a fingerprint sensor below the camera module. The phones will have glass back.
Xiaomi’s Redmi brand introduced the first Redmi Note 7 smartphone in China back in January, and the Redmi Note 7 Pro made its global debut in India in February. Today the company has announced that the combined sales of Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro have hit 20 million units globally in about seven months of launch. Update: August 20, 2019 — The company has posted first image of the Redmi TV that shows narrow bezels around the screen and Redmi branding on the bottom bezel.
Xiaomi already confirmed that it will launch a smartphone with a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor in India later this year. Now the live images of the smartphone ‘Redmi Note 8’ smartphone has surfaced in China, which could be launched in India sometime in October. This shows the left side of the phone with a SIM slot and the back of the phone with cameras arranged vertically, and there is a considerable camera bump due to the large sensor.
