
According to report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation) the Worldwide mobile phone market grew 11.3% year over year in the 2nd quarter of 2011 (2Q11) with the worldwide shipment of 328.4 million units. But, this is low compared to the 16.8% growth in the 1st quarter of 2011 (1Q11), that had worldwide shipment of 365.4 million units. We here at Fone Arena are big fans of Mugen Power Batteries, this uprising company from the east, providing us power-hungry geeks with more juice for all our favourite devices, most notably batteries for smartphones. Nokia declares operating loss of 487 million euros in Q2

Nokia today declared an operating loss of 487 million euros in Q2.The company managed to ship 88.5 million phones in the quarter and had net sales of 9.3 billion euros but the handset maker is struggling to make a profit.Looks like Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has some tough days ahead of him.

Nokia SeaRay Spotted Running WP7 Mango In New Video
A new video has emerged on Youtube starring the long awaited Nokia Windows Phone 7 device dubbed the Sea Ray. The video appears to have been shot in a development factory in Hong Kong or China. World’s First GSM Call was made 20 years ago

I graduated in Electronics and Communications and Finnish names are pretty common in any work in the wireless communication space. Nokia’s contribution to this space is pretty huge and the latest proof is Apple agreeing to become a licensee of Nokia. Now if you are a fan of technology , the first GSM call on a commercial network was made 20 years ago between Finland’s Prime Minister Harri Holkeri and Kaarina Suonio,vice mayor of the Finnish city of Tampere . The network was built by Telenokia and Siemens now known as Nokia Siemens Networks – for the Finnish operator Radiolinja, now known as Elisa.

Nokia C5 Gets Silently Updated
The popular Nokia C5 just got updated by Nokia to bring it more in line with current gen phones. The spec bumps are minor but appreciated nonetheless. The phone physically remains the same and runs the same OS ie S60v3 but now gets to enjoy 256MB of RAM which is double of the previous version. The processor remains the same.
