Android Jelly Bean port ready for Intel smartphones, No word on roll out

Waiting for Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) to hit your Lava X900 ? You’re in luck as Intel has just finished off porting the latest version of Android to its Medfield chips. The Android 4.1 build is complete and is being used as a daily driver by Intel employees said Mike Bell, Mobile group General Manager, in an interview with PC World.

Motorola XT890 to run on 2Ghz Intel chip ?

Motorola is planning to hold an event next week in partnership with Intel. Phones running on Intel’s Medfield chip are widely expected to be launched. If this FCC filing is to be believed then we’re going to be in for a treat with some very potent hardware lined up. The Motorola XT890 is rumored to be powered by a 2Ghz Intel chip. It is believed that the screen resolution is 897×540 which would be a bit disappointing.

Motorola shutting down India operations as part of restructuring plans

Motorola Mobility CEO, Dennis Woodside, recently confirmed that the company would be laying off 20% of the workforce while downscaling India operations. As part of these restructuring efforts, Motorola is now shutting down all operations in India. Further, operations across Asia Pacific are being massively undercut.

Motorola has announced the i867 Ferrari smartphone with Push to Talk in Brazil in partnership with Nextel. The phone’s design is inspired by the Ferrari 458 Italia and the back cover is designed to resemble the hood of the car.

Android 4.1 update being pushed out to Motorola Xoom WiFi tablets

Droid-Life reports that the WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom tablet has now started receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the US. The update has now begun gradually rolling out to users though currently it is restricted to only those using the WiFi edition of the tablet. Import ban on Motorola’s Android products goes into effect

We’d reported some time back on the International Trade Commission’s ruling that several devices from Motorola’s portfolio won’t be allowed to be sold in the US. The patent in question here is Microsoft’s innovation on email based meeting scheduling. This ban goes into effect starting today in the US.

Google has finally acquired Motorola Mobility, Googler Dennis Woodside replaces Sanjay Jha as CEO

After winning regulatory approval in China , Google has finally completed it’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility for a record $12.5 billion. Google CEO Larry Page wrote a blog post today titled  “We’ve acquired Motorola Mobility” and that the deal has finally closed after 9 months since the initial announcement. Google now has access to over 17000 patents owned by Motorola Mobility and will come in handy in it’s patent wars against Microsoft and Apple.

Motorola DROID Fighter revealed in leaked image

Motorola’s next high end model may have been revealed in a leaked image on Chinese forum PhoneHK. The handset is said to pack in the same battery as the RAZR MAXX with a whopping 3300 mAh. The screen seems to have been upgraded to a 4.6″ 720p panel.

Canonical to showcase Ubuntu for Android at MWC 2012

In the future almost everything is going to be mobile and compact, and Canonical has just taken a step further to prove this fact. I am a big fan of Open Source and when I heard about Canonical working for a mobile version of Ubuntu I was excited, like I was excited when I heard about Google working on a Linux based mobile platform, but I had no idea that Ubuntu for Android was what they have been working on and this concept is really beautiful, the merger of mobile O.S and a desktop O.S is here.

Motorola Atrix 3 with 4.3-inch HD display, Quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM surface

Motorola Atrix 3 has surfaced with an image and some specs. The rumored specs indicate that the phone would come with a 4.3-inch (1280 × 720 pixels) HD display, 2GB of RAM.
